- Comment on Kmart broke privacy laws by using facial recognition technology, commissioner finds 2 weeks ago:
Refund fraud comes from the theft of an item and then trying to return it without a receipt.
I only know this as they recently changed their policy where one return anko items without one… presumable because they were no longer able to have their sneaky cameras
- Comment on Kmart broke privacy laws by using facial recognition technology, commissioner finds 2 weeks ago:
It would be difficult to actually find something worth stealing in Kmart… if someone was going to go to the risk of shoplifting, they would probably go somewhere that had decent quality. It was also their stupid decision to put the checkouts at the back of the store…

Yeah, but July is not a patch you want to miss… 9.8 criticality vulnerability :0/

Went to see it last night. Cinema had about 30 people in it, mostly young people (15-25)… I didn’t hear one audible laugh the whole movie, maybe a couple of chuckles. After the movie, most people leaving were saying how awesome it was… I spent most of the movie hoping my recliner would malfunction and crush me to death

If they want to commit to ruining it, they could get Kathleen Kennedy

I thought it was pretty good… so weird and fresh. Solid 7.5/10 and definitely one I am glad I saw on the big screen
- Comment on Will Mission: Impossible, Jurassic World, Superman Save the Box Office? 7 months ago:
I don’t think the last Mission Impossible movie even made its money back… maybe they should stop humping the AI bandwagon.
- Comment on Coles to dramatically reduce number of products to simplify shopper experience 7 months ago:
About 18 months ago, there was a big uproar from sheep farmers that the price they were getting for lamb was a fraction of what Coles were selling it for. At that time Coles reduced the price of a leg of lamb to $8 a kilo and this has slowly crept back up to $15 a kilo as of last week. At the end of the day, Coles could have left the price as is and paid the farmers more, but nope, they did a short term price reduction which didn’t help them one bit…

I will wait and see the policy… if they are grandfathering and limiting new investements to a single property, o don’t see who would be negatively impacted by any change

I know they are already talking about Albo’s polling post shuffle, but this is Dutton we are talking about here, and he has a long way to go to wind back the swing that nearly wiped out their party last election… The Greens have more chance of getting up than the Libs
- Comment on ABC NEWS is Australia’s No 1 digital news brand; announces new look, features and functionality 1 year ago:
It is interesting, as SMH is headed down the same path as news.com.au (at least for A Sydney centric news site) focussing on sport, celebrity goss and locking news behind paywalls and cookies… I am guessing this hasn’t worked out too well for them

When I was young my Dad bought me some mercury home from work… I loved how it moved when I shook the bottle and the weight of it.
When I had my own kids I didn’t want it around, so our local council had set up a event where you could dispose of household liquids like old paints and solvents, so I took it down. When I drove up, the guy asked me what I was disposing of so I said mercury. It was bizarre. I was told to stay in the car and a guy came out of a shed in a full hazmat suit with one of those pairs of metal tongs to retrieve it from me.
I remember Dad telling me that miners used to collect gold pan tailings in mercury and then of a night they would hollow out a potato and put the mercury in, and then put that in the camp fire… it would burn off the mercury and leave a little ingot of gold.
- Comment on Adam Driver Says Kylo Ren’s Original ‘Star Wars’ Arc Got Overhauled: He Was Supposed to Be the ‘Most Committed to the Dark Side’ by the End 1 year ago:
The Force Awakens was ok, but pretty much the same underlying story as A New Hope
The second movie was a woeful middle finger to The Force Awakens which added nothing at all to the story, in fact 1/3 of the movie was pointless. The code breaker / casino arc didn’t impact what happened after the casino
The third movie felt like it was created around cutting room floor footage of Leia, and they turned Kylo into a pussy.
If I am doing a Star Wars marathon, it is Rogue One, 4, 5, 6 and 7
