- Comment on Is dns a good application for the blockchain? 4 days ago:
Generally, blockchain is really only helpful in very specific scenarios
- where there is no trust amongst actors (there is trust in dns, I trust you to tell me the details for your DNS records)
- immutability is important (dns records are regularly mutated, only the current state is important)
- and performance is unimportant (performance is critically important for dns)
- Comment on Is dns a good application for the blockchain? 4 days ago:
DNS uses distributes hash tables, which is decentralized. Though, yes, there is centralization in terms of trusted entities able to issue domain names and top level domains, you can already host your own distributed and decentralized name servers

Hardware stores might have cheap gel knee pads ($10 -> $40 for fancier ones) There’s also these kneeling mats /pads www.lowes.com/pd/…/5015160131

I assume this just means “pick inside” without saying it directly. The sample photo is of an inside space. No? The two in the middle row, I assume, are the “correct” answer.
Often the correct answer is only half the puzzle - how you answer (mouse movement) also can be to determine things
- Comment on why host your own files when someone else can do it for you 1 year ago:
God I can’t imagine why anyone would every do that intentionally. What about when you need to update the file…? How do you know which version is served??

what a wacky person to take a stance like this on, too. Sagan was a bleeding-heart liberal hippie who was all about peace and understanding.

I’m still a little sad that both solarpunk and beehaw just straight up didn’t respond to my essays back when there weren’t that many lemmy instances yet.

Listen. Some of us are looking forward. To the Future. The future of pulling out of that parking spot. Not my fault if you stuck in the review, my guy.

ah. True. Wasn’t thinking about the modifications required and renting.

You can have a switch such that you use “Shore Power” / the grid when your batteries are low and your batteries when they are full.
For anyone interested: I absolutely do not recommend as a DIY project, hire an electrician. You will kill yourself by stopping your heart or burn your house down. Or both. At the same time.

Aw. I’m so excited for there to be some fake “make energy from water vapor” blockchain bullshit company. Then we get to say vaporware as a double entendre.
(I do feel like I vaguely remember something about harvesting energy from humidity? Tiny nanotubes or something?)
- Comment on Why most posts (so far as I can tell) have very short lifespan tendency? 1 year ago:
From bulletin board experiences back in the aughts - I don’t know how this wasn’t a similar problem? If it was a recent thread - it got interaction. I think that had the benefit of not having a “front page” so you could see 10 or 20 posts for each sub-forum. Which is similar enough to just going to a subreddit and looking at the most recent posts - but most folks, I think, don’t interact like that with these types of interfaces unless they have a specific thing to look for?
