DRM infected files mean that you as a consumer don’t own anything. As someome else can destroy it.
- Comment on California’s new law forces digital stores to admit you’re just licensing content, not buying it 1 month ago:
The power to destroy a thing is the absolute control over it
DRM violates this principle. Atreides forever

Found it’s niche may be a better way to put it. Technology is very active, programming is full of good content. A good few meme communities. And the daily comics are great too. Plenty more examples. But plenty of communities pale in comparison to reddit, and this is likely due to the normie effect.
Techologists lead normies by 2 to 3 years, so give it another year yet before people migrate in bigger numbers

That’s so evil, and given Enterprise’s cancellation mid season also: perfect

It isn’t. GZDoom has been doing this for years and years

Same thing was said about DS9. And Discovery. And Lower Decks. Star Trek has proven itself to be very adaptable from comedy, to horror, through action and drama - and that’s the films alone.
I suspect we may well see S31 shown for what all intelligence organisations are: corrupt, inept, and deeply hypocritical to civil society. Doesn’t that sound like Star Trek to you?
- Comment on New Crazy Taxi title will be an open-world, massively multiplayer AAA game, according to Sega 4 months ago:
Some fuckwit VP needs fired over this decision. It was a simple game: pickup fairs, earn extra time, unlock stuff as you progress. If a publisher want extra cash, do more levels, or different jobs (delivery driver addon anyone?). And a fun soundtrack
Should have been able to bang it out for a million quid, and then reap the rewards. But nooo, now we have a game nobody wants to play, costing 20mil and will have servers shut down 2 years after launch
Everything that is wrong with gaming in 2024

Classics FPSes included Unreal Tournament 2004 and Quake 3. Both scale from 1 on 1 to 16 players well, meaning days of fun. Xonotic the open source clone, which is also very good
Worms is a hoot, can hotseat or LAN, armageddon I think the high point of the series. Hedgewars a more than worthy OS reimagining
RTSes are soo many, Warcraft 3, C&C series, or Total Annihilation all modded, all great. My choice is Balanced Annihilation or OpenRA for 2023 and OS
4X have classics like civ, but Stellaris a worthy choice too. Open source here includes unciv
Racing games are often a hoot too. You can get far too serious here if you want, but I recommend SuperTuxKart for some mariokart like action
Scorched3d another option for artillery fun. But generally Open Source all offer LAN gaming!

Personal preference really. I don’t with soft water in Scotland. And generally wash at 40, air dry (dehumidifier a must for a family), and don’t iron. Using a non-bio powder. I also add a colour catcher though, which keeps those black metals blacker

You think split screen is new? You think this hasn’t been done before? You think this is the first generation of consoles to bitch about one of them?
Whinging about the S is a small brain reply to Microsoft who aren’t willing to compromise. And good for them. There is plenty of hardware in an S and devs if they want to sell more need to target it first. No use crying about a design decisions made years ago wrt the hardware envelope. Drop some shit, make it work, run some flamecharts, optimise some more

Looking like shit is fine if it still plays! Look at the success of BattleBit. A timely reminder for EA working on the next Battlefield
- Comment on Microsoft’s Xbox Series S Parity Demands Are Now Handing Sony Free Wins 1 year ago:
I’ll bet bandwidth more. Dynamic loading of assets isn’t an old technique - it’s ancient, but the more detailed everything becomes, the harder it is. Some of the textures are incredibly large in modern games dev now too. But shipping lower res versions can be prohibitive also with SSD space at a premium.
But essentially if you want to target the current generation. Build it for the S first!
- Comment on Microsoft’s Xbox Series S Parity Demands Are Now Handing Sony Free Wins 1 year ago:
Wow, I’ve never had such a condescending reply - even on Reddit!
The article is clearly lacking in details like you described. But did you know that we used to have open world RPGs like Balders Gate 2 run on what are now potatoes?
Here’s another hint. World state will be measured in 100s of MB. Twice means there’s still loads of gigs left to play with. The S has loads of CPU too. This will be almost entirely a look problem
