Unknown. My aunt once mailed me a coconut (in its husk). Just gotta get the postage right…

I help our customers make their business processes less stupid, time consuming and riddled with errors. Practically speaking it means I go to meetings, documentation process changes, build out business process automations, and attempt to convince an unwilling workforce that no, 17 spreadsheets is not the only or best way to run a business (change management).
- Comment on What are some countries you’ve visited that shocked you with unexpected friendliness? 5 weeks ago:
Turkey! I had such a wonderful visit there as a teen in no small part because of the locals we met.

Not in the nineties, you couldn’t. 😉

This change in perspective is one of my favorite things about folks who are younger than me. Kudos for putting this kind of misogyny behind us.

Dan Savage had some good advice a while back:
Your awkward/repulsive stage will pass. In the meantime, here’s what you need to do: worry less about getting your young teenage self laid and start thinking about getting your 18- or 20-year-old self laid. Join a gym and get yourself a body that girls will find irresistible, read—read books—so that you’ll have something to say to girls (the best way to make girls think you’re interesting is to actually be interesting), and get out of the house and do shit—political shit, sporty shit, arty shit—so that you’ll meet different kinds of girls in different kinds of settings and become comfortable talking with them.
It is much easier to talk to someone when you have something to talk about.
- Comment on Why is a two-party system considered democratic? 1 month ago:
Many democracies form coalitions between smaller parties to create a majority voting block - the US just does it before the election.

OMG. Which AI tool produced this?

Yup, actual formula. Might not even be the most offensive one in the spreadsheet.

Multiple things formatted to look like tables, but not actually tables. And they are summing like every 13th cell. It is wild over here.

- Comment on Why some people go fulk grey hair in their 30s? 2 months ago:
I’m pretty sure it’s genetics.
With respect to the other stuff, women are coached from a very early age to be attractive and aging is looked down on. There are industries dedicated to making (mostly) women more attractive. There are studies showing attractive women are more successful in the workplace. But my experience is that working is not as stressful as full-time homemaking/parenting - so I think you are a bit off track there.

- Comment on is telling an employee how he has to speak micromanaging? Is it toxic? 2 months ago:
I train people on how to speak (to executives, during a presentation, with clients) all the time. In my line of work, a client can end a contract if they don’t like engaging with my team - so it is pretty relevant to the job.

- Comment on Would you consider me a “dry texter”? 2 months ago:
A conversation should go back and forth with questions and comments. Your text example was one person doing their part, but you did not do yours. Calling it “dry” was pretty kind of them. This is unfriendly bordering on rude.
- Comment on How do I find companies that want to outsource their jobs? 2 months ago:
Yes. For example there are many companies in India serving clients in the US. So you would need to know how you differentiate yourself from them. We work with a company who does graphic design, and their big value prop is their ability to snap to US business practices. So, they are more expensive that some, but they create an easy way to work with them. They also work 12 hours difference, which is handy. In contrast, I have worked with people in Columbia, who are roughly in the same time zone. Their big value is price.
- Comment on How do I find companies that want to outsource their jobs? 2 months ago:
A few questions: where are you and where do you want your clients to be? What services do you offer, and how do they differ from competing outsourcing companies?

So there is this feature where you can focus the AI on a specific file when generating responses. If that file contains only your own digital art, is the AI art produced yours? Not saying that’s what you found, but maybe there is some nuance to AI art creation.

Well, we will need some different, better minds on it to see success. I’d embrace it if I thought someone had any vague idea of how to execute it.
- Comment on Feelin free 3 months ago:
Maybe… Is saving considered hoarding? Is leaving a small inheritance to your kids considered hoarding?
Even without the semantic confusion or disagreement, it doesn’t change the fundamental dynamic identified in the post.
- Comment on Feelin free 3 months ago:
Taxing people appropriately is obviously the right way to go. But it actually doesn’t change the dynamic identified in the meme substantially. Rich people still hoard resources (albeit less after taxes). And basic needs are only met if enough people keep working to pay taxes or enrich their employees who pay taxes.
- Comment on Feelin free 3 months ago:
I mean, that experiment has been run and it is wildly difficult to manage (humans are quite wily!).
- Comment on Feelin free 3 months ago:
Also, at what point do you tip into you-dont-get-choose-your-job land? Is it still considered freedom if you are required to have a job to serve basic needs of the larger community? For example, we need more doctors even without universal healthcare in the US. If we covered the basic needs of everyone, wouldn’t we have to require some people to become doctors, who are not on that trajectory today?
