- Comment on EA wants to place in-game ads in its full-price AAA games, again 1 day ago:
Fellow gamers, now is the time to push back on this crap. If you don’t do it now, you’ll live with this forever. They tried doing this in past generations as well, and failed.
Spread the word, tell others. Be vocal! Advocate for this not happening.
And if someone tells you that this isn’t preventable, tell them not to be cynical. Remind them of the other positive changes we were able to have happen recently in gaming, and that in the past when they tried this, the pushback was successful in keeping the gaming companies from doing so.
And remember, some of those you would try to convince are probably astroturfers/bots.

From the article…
The Verge claims that Tango were in the process of pitching Hi-Fi Rush 2 before they were canned. The studio deserved better.
Wow, that really sucks. Wonder what the hell’s going on over there with Microsoft these days.

As an individual, for comments of two sentences each, this is not an option.
My content is usually more than a sentence or two.
Also, it puts a stake in the ground for any future enforcement done by others than myself if laws change.
Its a low-hanging-fruit way of protecting my content. If it works, great, and if it doesn’t, then I’ll vote for someone else for Congress the next time.
I’ve wasted more time replying on this single conversation/post than I have copy/pasting the link in all of my comments so far.
- Comment on What is Reddit doing 4 days ago:
Don’t think of it as them being unprofessional, think of it as them having a safety valve to relieve the pressure of some people wanting to leave Reddit for Lemmy or elsewhere, because of their bs.
Someday, when they’re confident enough that they have customer retention locked in, that methodology of bypassing will be removed.

What that comic tells me is that everyone loves standards, as long as they’re the ones controlling the standard.

A lot of people misunderstand economic systems by anthropomorphizing (it means to give them human characteristics) them, giving them the illusion of thought or feeling.
Just in case that was directed at me, versus part of your overall opining, I do not.
It’s an economic and social system, ‘Bartering 2.0’, and not a mechanical or otherwise thing.
Good opinion piece over all though.
- Comment on Steam / Steam Deck stable client update released fixing lots of bugs 4 days ago:
From the articles…
This bundles up all the changes from many multiple Beta releases and there’s a lot to go over.
Also from the article…
One of the interesting tweaks is that Valve adjusted the CSS to “reduce feature leaks”, I guess they’re growing a little tired of certain people scraping it constantly to see what they’re working on.
I kind of feel bad about this one. I like to have as much openness and eyes viewing as possible.

- Comment on All cheap smartphones have a fingerprint sensor but all laptops dont have one. Why? 6 days ago:
Also fingerprint unlock missing would probably be a big no-no for most people even in budget class.
Why I would agree with that in the past, these days I would disagree.
People are not happy about having to do 2FA and such to login (people tend to gravitate towards simplicity), so they are looking for that same feature that they have by default on their phone that helps them simplify the login process, on their computers, moreso now.
- Comment on All cheap smartphones have a fingerprint sensor but all laptops dont have one. Why? 6 days ago:
PC Hardware makers/sellers think about saving every last penny they can, to improve and maintain their profit margins.
Cell phone makers/sellers don’t have that same requirement as much, as cell phones can be sold or be subsidized for with higher profit margins, so they can feel more relaxed with including more features.
Finally, it may just come down to cell phone OS companies Google and Apple pressuring cell phone makers to include that hardware, where there is no equivalent organizations for PC Hardware makers.

That’s sarcasm doesn’t help solve anything.

The last screenshot is the most important one to pay attention to.
(Apologizing in advance, a bit of a rant incoming…)
People can’t just bitch about it on an online forum and then do nothing after that, that doesn’t solve anything. You have to be proactive, you have to get off your ass, if you truly want change and to be treated respectfully as a customer. Otherwise, you get what you deserve.
They know the standard M.O. of a gamer, its to complain but then do nothing, and they take advantage of that.
- Comment on Take-Two Interactive shuts down the Studios behind Kerbal Space Program and Rollerdrome 1 week ago:
Juno: New Origins. It is currently on sale on Steam. It’s also developed by like, 8 people or something like that. It’s a ridiculously small team.
Thank you! I’ll be sure to check it out.
- Comment on Take-Two Interactive shuts down the Studios behind Kerbal Space Program and Rollerdrome 1 week ago:
But anyways, Juno exists. It has the same spirit of accurate spaceship design and flight simulation, even if the tone is distinctly different.
Would you happen to have a link for that? My Google-Fu is wanting in trying to find more information about it.

Are YOU a lawyer?
I am an excellent shower singer.
Now, if you are done trying to avoid the question, lets try again. I’m really curious as to your citation. …
You don’t own your comments to transfer a license in the first place.
Are you a lawyer? You have some citation to back that up?
I know that you are incorrect, but I’m willing to hear your evidence to the contrary. ??

Yep, sorry. Still training my 20th century mindset for the 21st century. Teaching old dogs new tricks and all that, but I’m trying.
I hate using ‘they’ though, because it always signals “more than one” to me, plural, when I’m talking about a specific singular person.
- Comment on What is the Anti Commercial-Al license and why do people keep adding it to their comments? 1 week ago:
So you’re not so much protecting your comments, but graciously allowing them to be used for training for non-commercial purposes, where most people are greedily keeping them to themselves. I suppose that’s admirable.
You’re not telling me anything that I don’t already know.
I have no problem for my content being used for open-source reasons. Commercial reasons without compensation is another matter.
- Comment on What is the Anti Commercial-Al license and why do people keep adding it to their comments? 1 week ago:
The problem with your argument is everyone’s only telling you exactly what your own link also says; the licence only applies if someone needs your permission anyway. If they don’t need permission the licence doesn’t matter. You don’t need to be a lawyer, you only need to be literate.
If the licensor’s permission is not necessary for any reason–for example, because of any applicable exception or limitation to copyright–then that use is not regulated by the license.
And all that’s still ignoring the fact you’re putting a higher bar to refute the claim than to make it in the first place which is nonsense; anything which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.
You’re not responding to what I replied, and tryingn to obfuscate the issue.
You’re moving the goalpost away from the point I was making, that those who are not lawyers speak with authority of the subject and represent themselves as the final word on the legality of the subject…
When you and others like you make responses of absolute authority and correctiveness on legal matters, then it’s fair to ask if you’re a lawyer.
- Comment on What is the Anti Commercial-Al license and why do people keep adding it to their comments? 1 week ago:
It’s ironic because you demand someone be a lawyer to refute an obviously incorrect claim made by a non-lawyer.
When you and others like you make responses of absolute authority and correctiveness on legal matters, then it’s fair to ask if you’re a lawyer.
Funny enough, every time that question is answered, not once does somebody come back and say “Yes, I’m a lawyer”. Instead they just double down with the same kind of response that you just gave.
Everyone’s a lawyer until they’re asked to prove their statements on a legal matter that they are advocating for.
If you replied with IANAL, and just expressed opinion, and not assumed legal fact, then you wouldn’t get that question.
