Millions of people work for free every day, we call them volunteers. Many of our institutions including hospitals, parks, schools, sports leagues, museums, food banks, community theaters and zoos depend on volunteer staffing to run their programs.
When I hear someone say no one will work if they aren’t paid, I hear projection.

- Comment on Is there a reason why toilets are made out of one of the most resonating materials possible while also being made in a shape that makes a small fart sound like a damn trombone? 1 week ago:
It’s Pinocchio, a lyre, perhaps a duet.

Do you think Pinocchio farts would sound more like a woodwind instead of a trombone?

Lots of generally accepted bigotry throughout society, even in the constitution
- Comment on How come Mark Wahlberg got a pass for being the crap out of a Vietnamese guy. But Kevin Spacey, Bill Cosby, Weinstein, do not get a pass? Beside the sexual aspect what is the difference? 2 months ago:
Yes, certainly not excuse. Thank you. Perhaps explain or ameliorate would be better word choice. Most go through teen years without perpetuating acts of racial violence, no excuse.

Certainly can excuse once, maybe twice, but a continued patten suggests this is more than just poor impulse control due to an underdeveloped prefrontal cortex.

Four know incidents with Wahlberg, how many is needed for a pattern?
- Comment on If I was in the market for a good used car, which car would be the best to outrun the cops? 4 months ago:
Pick a top professional international level motorsport like F1, NHRA, MotoGP. They have the best vehicles and drivers in the world. Mostly competing on closed courses with unidirectional flow. Still regularly have equipment failure and misjudgment lead to collisions. On a race course everyone agrees to the heightened level of risk.

It’s true, I can’t deny that vegans approve of protecting the universe’s seals.
- Comment on if you're offered a position you can use to advance your career but it involves people without boundaries, do you tell your maybe-future-to-be manager you don't want to work with those people? 9 months ago:
Almost every place I’ve worked I’ve had to deal with people as you describe. If you want to advance you need to develop strategies to deal with disruption. Depending on the situation you could; explain you are trying to learn a specific topic and ask them for their experienced insights (a little flattery never hurts and they might share helpful information), enforce your boundaries and say the question is a bit personal and makes you uncomfortable, say the day has you frazzled and you need quiet time to concentrate/regroup (again maybe flattery, I don’t know how you are so calm on a day like today), redirect the question back on them (you don’t actually have to care and listen, just some fake active listening nodding, say really, wow and make some eye contact), occasionally give some tidbits to appease them and not appear too stand-off ish, could be real or just make shit up) Consider what Jordanlund said, it might be their way of dealing with pressure, be more understanding, everyone has different coping mechanisms. Also tell yourself the situation is temporary, it is a stepping stone to your next goal and you will not have to deal with them forever.
- Comment on If i stain or spill a drink on a shirt, can i just wash it in the bath with generic soap and let it soak rinse and dry to get the same thing as a whole load of laundry? 1 year ago:
Yes you can but stains can be difficult and you might get better results using specific strategies depending on the type of drink.

California has sales and use tax that requires you to disclose untaxed purchases made online or out of state. Probably get away with it, but is illegal to not report. You do you.

- Comment on why does every single flashlight have multiple settings that you have to scroll through? 1 year ago:
My Pretzel headlamp turns on and off in steady full beam. Can choose to cycle through low beam and flashing if I want to with quick depressions of button. Switch to red light and back by depressing and holding button. Sometimes use low beam to save battery, red light to keep from loosing night vision, flashing to be seen, not see with.
