Honestly regarding your post I would suggest you watch the film Hypernormalization. I found it thought provoking and informative and it does deal a bit with geopolitics during the time period you mentioned.
In short, quite a lot happened!

Voting does still matter, and depending on where you live, it can matter quite a bit! Especially pay attention to local positions and ballot measures.
Remember, if voting didn’t matter they wouldn’t try so hard to prevent it! Use your rights while you still can!

You can get some info from the size of social media followings. Honestly with prices like what I saw online I would bet on some buyers at least

We use the strategy of “luxury consumables” often. Fancy oil/vinegar, chocolate, candles, coffee, etc.

- Comment on What are some good, independent news outlets that are reliable? 5 weeks ago:
Hmm… it’s gonna be tough to find brands that produce quality international news without something of a corpo bent.
Maybe if you have areas of interest you can find writers and reporters in that space who you can follow and perhaps compensate directly.
Also, have you considered Ground News?

Questionable. Depends on use case.

You can compare here for example. I used Geekbench Browser to compare (IMHO) real world usage
Also, Mac vs Windows is not an insignificant difference, again depending on use case.

- Comment on How do you people read books? 2 months ago:
I usually read for pleasure. I prefer fiction and read some nonfiction.
- iPad, Libby app, in a keyboard case, on pillows on my lap on the couch. Fiction in the morning with coffee.
- I sometimes highlight or save quotes but don’t often take notes. I will discuss with my partner or friends if it comes up.
- Digestion happens naturally I guess!
- The Gutenberg Parenthesis was a good read and dense. I read it over a few weeks while going to sleep on my phone.

FWIW, they can definitely fill up. If you can afford it definitely donate and the team will use it to run the platform and pay the devs!
