- Comment on ‘Unknown 9: Awakening’ Arrives To 200 Steam Players, Poor Reviews 2 months ago:
I follow gaming news pretty closely and I’ve never even heard of this one. Wouldn’t be surprised if the low engagement, at least in part, comes down to poor marketing.

Green light, happy shopping!

If my retail experience is any indication, acknowledging customers in this situation is a bad idea. Before you know it, the conversation turns to “I just need one thing!” Or “I promise I’ll be really quick!” and you have to become the asshole to tell them no… Even though the store hours are clearly listed on the front door.
Or if you agree even once, the conversation could easily become “but you did it for me/my friend last time!”
I’ve literally had people sneak into the store using an exit, then act all indignant because I tell them to leave. You give some of these fuckers an inch, they’ll take a mile.

Here’s a tip I’ve found useful: if I show up simewhere after closing time and find that the door is locked, it’s because the store is closed.

Oh don’t get me wrong, I understand why Sony wants to enhance it. I just don’t understand who it’s for, and who will buy it. I guess it just takes less money and effort than developing new games or IP.

This game still looks and plays fine, in my opinion. Can’t really see the need for an enhanced version.

Interesting, thanks for the clarification. Have to admit, that does sound better.

I really hope this doesnt take off. I tried out Star Trek: Infinite and the tutorial uses an AI voice. Completely took me out of it.

I bet you’re more talented than you give yourself credit for. Its hard to recognize your own good qualities, especially if you’re the type that compares yourself with others.
Remember, nobody is good at everything. Everybody is good at something. What’s your thing?

I’d love to know what he said but I’m not going to sit through an hour long reaction video.

Beautiful animation, but my least favorite story from a Miyazaki film. I’d find it diffkcult to rewatch this one, unfortunately.
- Comment on Is there a word in English to describe someone who wants to preserve a (minority) culture against erosion from a majority culture? 1 year ago:
French being in decline is apparently not as straightforward as that. Source Source globalnews.ca/…/is-french-language-in-decline-que…
Likewise, neither is the ability to access services. Even if service in your language is technically available according to the constitution, the quality and equality of these services arguably suffers for anyone who is not a french quebecer (see the healthcare, court and justice sections). Anecdotally, I had trouble accessing many government services in English even before bill 96. Ive been hung up on several times when asking for service in English, even when it was offered to me in a menu or whatever. Luckily I’m okay at French so I got by. Someone from a country that speaks a language which doesnt resemble French whatsoever may struggle. Or someone with a disability like Autism as cited in the gazette article above. Especially with less than 6 months to learn a new language, which is just not a long enough time in many cases. Overall I agree that its reasonable to expect most people to learn french if they intend to stay in quebec long term.
The bill 21 debate is tough, because im not religious or French. I’m against the bill on a personal level, but dont feel I can really argue from that view alone. However, the bill does seem to impact non-christian faiths more negatively.
The political sponsor argument probably doesnt get many answers because its a pretty poor comparison in my opinion. I dont have to be religious to know that someone’s faith is more integral to who they are as a person, their identity, than any political affiliation. So long as that sort of expression isn’t hurting anyone in Quebec directly, I dont see what right Quebec politicians have to interfere with that.

I’m an outsider, so apologies if this is an ignorant question. But didn’t the Gaelic culture appear in Scotland because of settlement from what is now Ireland? Wouldn’t the indigenous language of Scotland be some form of Brittonic, spoken by the Picts for example?

I think the racist label has more to do with the way french Quebec leaders go about supposedly protecting their culture. Limiting religious expression (Bill 21), no longer allowing anglos to access essential services in English, mandating that new immigrants become fluid in french within 6 months I believe? The idea that Quebec has language police has been a running joke for years.
They can claim these steps are taken to protect Quebec culture, but they seem pretty targeted to me. Anyway, I’m anglo and was born and raised in Quebec, so am I just not part of the culture?

- Comment on 'Barbie' dominates cinemas: Movie tops $1 billion globally in first for solo woman director 1 year ago:
I went into this movie not knowing what to expect. Honestly, I mostly went because my girlfriend wanted to see it.
I was pleasantly surprised. The movie is hilarious, well-acted, clever, and surprisingly touching. Also, the soundtrack has absolutely no business being as good as it is.
