I love that about older films, the pacing tends to open itself to more emotional investment if you’re in the right mood it can be such a refreshing change.

I suppose also, there was likely a time before modern textiles when wearing a skirt that was durable enough for every day use could have been pretty uncomfortable

Well the truth is I recently started a job at a high school and the female students mostly wear skirts, of them about half of them wear dark stockings and I just ¯_ (ツ) _/¯ I dunno I just wondered what they do but looking through the comments it totally makes sense that they’d add a layer of comfort particularly in colder months, when I realized I also wear a tight pair of thermal pants sometimes then it became clearer as well
Not that anyone has to justify wearing what they wear I was just slightly curious is all

True, I have a thin pair of wool thermal pants that work a treat in winter

- Comment on higher wages for the servers... by the customers. Fnbs 1 year ago:
I’m not in america, in our country when we buy a meal the tax is included, as is the cost of paying staff a living wage and tips are really only given (volunteerily, without prompt) in certain scenarios where service might genuinely be extraordinary.
It’s always been fascinating to me that it could be done any other way and to be honest it sounds incredibly complicated and quite shitty the way america does it, it seems to me like it’s an old fashioned relic from the swashbuckling 1800’s, pay your maiden well and she’ll make sure your mead is always topped up… But in 2023 it seems absurd, prepared food and drink is just a product like anything else, do you tip at Walmart when you buy a TV?

I’ve never made it myself but home made kombucha is beautiful! Not as sweet as the store bought stuff, bit of a process though

It’s absolutely absurd to me that anyone would feel insulated at all about such a reasonable request
