- Comment on Movie Review: Glen Powell gives big leading man energy in ‘Hit Man’ 6 months ago:
It’s a fun enough performance I thought, but a pretty flat film for all the hype that’s around it. Decent but like a 6/10
- Comment on This TV movie from the 1980s helped change the course of the Cold War. Here’s how ‘The Day After’ got made | CNN 6 months ago:
Jesus fuck, I’d put Threads out my mind! There was a cartoon I recall too, old couple, tried to hide in their bath from a nuclear strike? Was that a thing?

- Comment on Interview: Blu Del Barrio On Adira’s ‘Star Trek: Discovery’ Journey And Why It’s Fun When Jonathan Frakes Directs 6 months ago:
Think the actors done a great job with what they were given, but why is everything so damn earnest constantly with noisy about everyone and every storyline, I think the last couple series of discovery have been my last enjoyed out of all the stat trek on telly
- Comment on What would you consider to be the greatest action movie of the 2000s so far? 6 months ago:
Trying to pick off things not mentioned…Jesus Christ, that’s Jason Bourne! The Bourne identity first three at least are up there. As much as I don’t like glorify the guy, the Mission Impossible films from 2 onwards have all been pretty great as was Top Gun:Maverick and Collateral. Away from Tom… Oldboy, The Departed (thriller probably more than action) Taken (first one) The Craig Daniel’s Bond Films 300, Equaliser, Does Nolan’s Batman trilogy count?

Hello there
- Comment on Minimum wage is UK’s ‘most successful economic policy in a generation’ 8 months ago:
Minimum wage raises have almost no effect on inflation rates, or “shrinkflation” for that matter. The rises in minimum wage have been frequent over the last few years but it’s almost entirely been cost push inflation that’s caused the cost of living to be so much higher and so swiftly over the last few years. Longer term here’s actually been huge wage stagnation for most. Which is its own issue. Off the back of the cost push causation, the UA invasion by Russia, covid etc profiteering by companies is definitely happening too.

Yeah, you’re spot on with every point there. I’ve cancelled my auto renew, as we do use the other benefits of the prime account, but we can and will be using other services from the end of our current subscription.

- Comment on Is "True Detective" season 2 bad, or just bad compared to season 1? 1 year ago:
Didn’t think season 2 was bad at all, it isn’t great like the first and the third is a bit better than it, but it’s still better than most tv shows
- Comment on The Weekly 'What are you playing?' Discussion - 11-09-2023 1 year ago:
Finally completed Gears of War 5, was a great ride, not a big an emotional impact as. Some of the older games but it was compelling and enjoyable. Just downloaded Stratfield and set up the character, played the first half hour… hoping for those choices to have an impact, but from what I’m reading, is not maybe a good as I was hoping.

It really is, I honestly thought Oldman had maybe just gained the weight.
- Comment on [Weekly thread] What is the best movie you watched last week? 9 September 1 year ago:
Not exactly a new release but got round to watching The Darkest Hour. Gary Oldman’s Winston Churchill was great.

Ke Huy Quan. He was Data in The Goonies back then as well.

The glorious Matt Berry plays Lazlo, BAATTT, and played Denholm Jr, the big boss, in IT Crowd. He’s also a pretty good musician.

I cannot recall Bowie in Tron: Legacy at all, but he had been acting on and off in pretty big productions since the late 60’s. The biggest first one was probably The man who fell to earth, but I think Jareth in Labrynth was his best performance personally.

They weren’t though, they were straight up comedians. After all these years it’s obvious they had more to them, but when they first stepped into serious roles it wasn’t known and was a surprise to most what they could do outwith comedy.

Man, Robin Williams can get to me like no one else. There were moments in Good Morning Vietnam, a couple years before Dead poets, but GMV was def more focused on his big comedic personality. Then his performance in The Fisher King…I don’t generally get emotional about celebrities but that dude was different. There’s been a few musicians that have been much better than expected. Dolly Paton in 9 to 5, Madonna on A League of their Own, Prince’s acting in Purple rain. Ice Cube in Boyz in da hood.
