- Comment on What's Mastodon precious? 4 days ago:
The way sign up currently is, probably not. It would still default to bsky.social and your average person isn’t going to think about it.

Only in that direction.
- Comment on I make games and this literally happened to me this morning 1 month ago:
Considering you’re a hobbyist and probably don’t have marketing, it’s too soon to say it’s a flop. Many games like that pop off later once it gets seen.

If an argument is being made for one thing, Fahrenheit, it’s not relevant to bring up a different thing. Why is feet a good measurement? Maybe it’s not, we’re talking about temperature.
- Comment on Burning Up 2 months ago:
If Fahrenheit is “how people feel” then why are feet useful measurements of height when 90% of people are between 4ft and 6ft?
Those are two different things. Hope this helps.

I got back into torrenting media and using plex because of all this nonsense. I’m not watching ads on a paid service and I’m not subscribing to 6 services at a time just because every company wants their own Network+ service. I’m also not going to pay more because you decided to add ads to an existing “tier”.
Then I learned through lemmy about real-debrid and stremio/torrentio and decided to try that. Now I’ve got the equivalent to these services for much less cost and the only difference is before I press play on an episode or movie, I just choose the cached torrent. No ads, don’t even need the space on a hard drive, good quality, and almost everything is immediately available.

Get your routine cleaning. If you have a cavity they’ll tell you and you don’t have to get it filled right away.
- Comment on Why is the current temperature sometimes lower than today's low temperature? For example right now it 13F with a predicated low today of 16F! 10 months ago:
Out of context you’re right, but most of the time when you open a weather app you’ll get a more detailed view where you can see, in this example, that 29 is the high and 16 is the low for the day with 13 being the current temperature. Once you look at that one time you would know what these numbers are in this shortened view.

Mine was like that, make sure you check for firmware updates.

- Comment on Where can I find recipes without the author's personal anecdotes? 1 year ago:
I use copymethat.com. you can grab it as an extension in your browser or an app on your phone and then when you find these recipes it grabs the actual recipe out from all the nonsense.
- Comment on Youtube ads finally got me 1 year ago:
I believe Google is “testing” it right now, so for some people it’s been slowly escalating to where they were allowed 3 videos before it stopped them from watching anymore videos with the ad blocker enabled.
- Comment on How should I wash dishes/surfaces in contact with raw chicken? 1 year ago:
Dish soap. Washing up liquid. Whatever your country calls that.
- Comment on How should I wash dishes/surfaces in contact with raw chicken? 1 year ago:
It’s an old school thing that’s been held over by kids learning from their parents. In modern society there is no real benefit.
- Comment on Buying neices and nephews Christmas presents? 1 year ago:
If I am still seeing them every Christmas and I know I will they will always still get gifts. When/if they become family that I don’t see, or maybe see around Christmas, then I might move to something like a card sent in the mail with a gift card or some cash, or even nothing at all.
- Comment on Isn't OneDrive/Sharepiont the exact OPPOSITE of a shared drive? 1 year ago:
If you do a little research and figure out how to get it setup you can share that knowledge with your boss. There are SOME things that could depend on how IT or the SharePoint owner configured things - like at my job there’s one SharePoint where they turned off linking it in my OneDrive - but otherwise you should be able to get it close to how it used to be.
It’s definitely silly for your boss to keep it all in his onedrive and sharing it out. OneDrive is supposed to be personal storage that you CAN collaborate on. SharePoint and Teams (basically SharePoint on the back end) are where team-wide storage should be. But, having gone through a transition to M365 I understand they probably just don’t understand and did what they thought they could.
- Comment on Paid full price and got this in the mail (open box). GameStop and I have different definitions of “new” 1 year ago:
Like what? It’s in their box, with their sticker that says the games name, “new”, and has a barcode. What do you think they’re going to accuse you of?

Usually yes, but this person is saying theirs does not have a physical keyhole.

Not yet but I wish there was. I use imgur quite a lot and I like the idea of a fediverse version. Especially with the direction they’ve gone lately.

- Comment on "Sponsored recommendations": I pay for Spotify Premium, and yet somehow I'm still the product? 1 year ago:
Unrelated service, but I use Walmart for their grocery delivery, which I pay for and I have a Walmart+ subscription. In the “my items” section, the section specifically for things I have already purchased before, they recently added sponsored items.
Yes, it’s clearly marked but for fucks sake Walmart I’m trying to just get more of stuff I’ve bought before. You have pages and pages of sponsored stuff elsewhere, leave my items alone!
- Comment on Can I ask this girl out? 1 year ago:
BUT be prepared to never go back to her work again. Especially if she says no.
I don’t think that’s necessary. Unless the OP is pushy and a creep just asking, accepting a no, and moving on shouldn’t bar them from the dispensary forever.
- Comment on Would you all prefer lemmy as a whole reaches the userbase of reddit, or to remain smaller? 1 year ago:
I didn’t mind the number of people on Reddit, I had a problem with Reddit itself being greedy. If something shitty happens here I can move instances or host my own. That’s why I’m here now, so I don’t really care how big it grows.
- Comment on Do you feel this place has gotten more.. reddit-y lately? 1 year ago:
