- Comment on Do you think that Trump is the most hated U.S. president? 1 day ago:
Definitely not. China has a massive population and they love him.
- Comment on If Steam were to shut down tomorrow how much money would you have lost in total on games / DLC ?? 1 week ago:
None because I don’t buy games with unbroken DRM (including the need for corporate-run servers) and therefore can always get 'em all back via piracy.

So you say, that the US has the purest capitalism while everyone else has diluted it with some soviet communism?
- Comment on Yes, yes they are 1 week ago:
People fuck children. The US has a president who intimately knows a lot of people who literally fuck children.
Fucking children is socially acceptable right now if you are part of the right circle.
But there are also a lot of people who fuck children without knowing the US president or the (conveniently deceased) Jeffrey Epstein. They aren’t in that circle and for them, it’s not socially acceptable to fuck children. Yet they still do it.
When the human sex drive is opposed by social norms, usually the sex drive wins one way or the other. Most people with forbidden fetishes are able to satisfy the drive without actually using the real thing. But there were always some for whom that didn’t work.I am pretty sure, slave owners were able to come up with some excuse for fucking their slaves after their horniness raised high enough over the years. And when post-nut clarity set in, they confessed to a priest and were forgiven by god - so it was all fine anyway.

The sort-of not really but they will tell that it is one to the government for NSFW content is just ass covering. Can’t really blame them for not wanting their business getting closed by some lunatics who happen to be in power.
Auto-translation is a feature the author can use (but I do have an extension for translating marked text too, because translation is actually a pretty useful feature to have in general).
For me on desktop, the UI is okay. But yeah, it probably sucks on mobile. UI generally tends to suck on mobile. - Comment on *laughs nervously* 1 week ago:
The subscriptions which are actually still hard to avoid are: for a lot of people rent, for Muricans healthcare, power, water, trash, Internet. Parents get a few more and personal liability insurance is also a good idea (but also relatively cheap for most people). The other subscriptions are luxury and easy to just not have.

Do you have a dog that provably can do all those things just fine and is really obedient? From their point of view, those fascists had dogs which had human abilities, had the intelligence of a human, and were even more obedient than the four-legged dogs. People absolutely will have their robomaid double as a nanny. And the robomaid will also help the kids do their homework while refusing to just give them the solutions. Humans in general really love to not have to do stuff themselves.

Reddit is a bad example because it’s still readable without an account and almost uncensored outside politics. You can also still query Reddit explicitly reasonably fine by adding “Reddit” to your search in DuckDuckGo or Google.
Reddit’s enshittification is in the optional buyable reactions (which make posts and comments way more visible than voting is able to), their automated moderation, and making automated moderation for sub mods harder.
Using it as a library is what didn’t get enshittified. - Comment on oh bless yer heart, pepperidge farm 'members! 1 week ago:
North Korea would likely not be a worse place than China or the US if their economy wasn’t shit. And a lot of that is literally just The Great US Empire (and its vassals) restricting global trade by gunboat politics since the end of WW2. Cuba has the same problem: Immense evolutionary pressure to harden their government against US-caused regime change followed by total exploitation.

They sort-of have to pretend to be just funny because otherwise they get banned for bible belt reasons. They are easy to avoid, so I don’t care about them existing. It’s not the content I need uBlock Origin or SponsorBlock for to get it out of my face.

It was always a bit more expensive to insist on arbitrary counter-intuitive requirements like an arbitrarily tiny non-standard form factor.
There really is no actual benefit of that thing being that tiny. Obviously, there is space for a massive TV. That TV isn’t sitting on the floor. Logically there is a lot of space below that TV. Just put a desktop PC there.
And people actually had office-desktop-PC-sized VCRs in their media racks below their CRT TVs for a long time. There was space for that. And the classic HIFI towers which dominated living rooms two to three decades ago are massive compared to a desktop PC.Handhelds are obviously a very different thing. It makes sense for them to be Steam-Deck-sized. The form factor actually makes sense for a mobile gaming device. It’s just the stationary mini PCs where the form factor is just the pain without any actual gain.

Grats to the kid. It developed the ability for critical thinking early. Time to admit the lie and stop using fairy tales as a tool.
The next developmental step might make giving money for teeth a really cursed incentive btw. So disconnecting the reward from the loss of teeth is probably a good idea. Just increase the weekly allowance accordingly to not make it look like discoveries are punished. - Comment on Spoilers 2 weeks ago:
The problem with doubling down as a habit is that the child’s brain will mature more and eventually notice the lie. And then you did actual habitual betraying gaslighting instead of just the usual fairy tales to calm a child. Admit and acknowledge the child’s mental development.
Parents start with having the full trust of their children. And there is quite the leeway before puberty hits. But trust once lost might never be fully regained. There is a real risk of creating serious trust issues. - Comment on Spoilers 2 weeks ago:
The cold truth being that humans in general are a really bad source for facts. They lie to protect. They lie to save face. They lie because they don’t like the truth. And they accidentally lie because they don’t know better. No one can be trusted in this world. You have to fact-check everything. And we didn’t even have the internet back then.

The hardware prices seem competitive. But the important note is hinting at the real form factor tax: It doesn’t have the same cost / performance ratio as a normally sized PC using the same hardware.
- Comment on Steam Machine pricing announced (from $1049-$1428 USD), reservation lists open 2 weeks ago:
It’s a console-like device for people who want the full PC gaming experience without the large PC form factor. It comes with Steam OS preinstalled and 1080p60 on medium settings should be fine for the people who play on the couch with the large TV two to three meters away.
But I guess, it’s mainly sold to tiny form factor fetishists because it’s definitely not cheap, and you probably can just slap Steam OS on a used gaming PC. - Comment on Steam Machine pricing announced (from $1049-$1428 USD), reservation lists open 2 weeks ago:
It’s a hipster PC. Even if there wasn’t the current hardware pricing bubble, you’d still pay the form factor tax.

Of course, they do the male gaze. The majority of the male audience loves it and the majority of the female audience doesn’t care enough to prevent a sale.
It’s a no-brainer to implement male gaze if your target audience includes males. It’s easy to do and yields a lot of goodwill from that part of the audience. Some gacha games make tons of money just doing the male gaze and literally slopping everything else. It’s absurd how well sex sells. - Comment on Femality is stored in the nipples 2 weeks ago:
I don’t get why they aren’t just making a single body with tons of sliders for all proportions and some “man” and “woman” presets which are just values for those sliders. If it was just one body, all the clothing and animations would only need to be done for one body instead of two.

Factorio is basically just role-playing as the US: You land on a planet and liberate the oil from the natives.
But I also like Dungeon Keeper or Rimworld where you can actually play as a genuinely evil god.
