- Comment on Co-op scraps policy allowing trans staff to use toilets they ‘feel safest’ 1 day ago:
Because installing them is still exclusionary to trans people, telling them that they do not belong to the gender they identify as and/or that they are a danger to the people of the gender that they identify as.

A game that can be taken away (in this case, due to a subscription) is one I won’t play out of principle.
- Comment on Co-op scraps policy allowing trans staff to use toilets they ‘feel safest’ 2 days ago:
While the Co-op may not be transphobic itself, single occupant gender-neutral bathrooms are a solution presented by transphobes who want to continue misgendering trans men and women under the veneer of a discriminatory ‘compromise’.
Trans people across the UK are having their rights marginalized.

- Comment on At colleges, the AI boom means everyone wants to dabble in computer science 2 weeks ago:
‘AI literacy’ in the context of ‘don’t use it to cheat’ or ‘it may fabricate information or attributions’ should be an extension of institutional plagiarism and acceptable source policies.
Framing it as being ‘literate’ in AI use is a tacit encouragement for such tools to be used.

That means 200 officers taken off the capital’s streets, where they could have been tackling the crimes that matter most to Londoners.
Don’t waste law enforcement resources dismantling civil rights then.

While I already didn’t like CGP Grey for multi-striking a reaction channel, monetizing the ability to comment on his videos, and exploiting the algorithm with clickbait title and thumbnail changes, locking old videos behind a paid membership is astounding.

Because capitalizing SECRET and IT’S WORSE, insinuating the existence of a conspiracy with “Than You Think”, and putting an eye-catching yellow “EXPO$ED” on the thumbnail are hallmarks of meaningful journalism rather than sensationalist tabloids?

Farage is corrupt, but I’m not inclined to watch channels that feel the need to use clickbait to draw viewers.

The third, on 20 April, said: “If a trans-identified male is in a female-only space, he is committing a violent, abusive act. Make a scene, call the cops and, if all else fails, punch him in the balls.”
Linehan insisted at the time that while he may have been guilty of making a “bad joke”, he had not been aiming to encourage violence.
Great, now people on TERF island are getting paid to tell people to physically assault transgender people.

All the money being poured into Star Citizen makes me wish Microsoft realized the demand for games in the genre and gave Freelancer a proper AAA remaster (and sequel if successful), but the fan-made Freelancer HD Edition does at least modernize the game somewhat.

They will still become worthless once Nintendo shuts down the Switch 2 servers, making piracy the only viable form of game preservation at that point beyond whichever means Nintendo will have to get people to buy the games a second time.
- Comment on Killing ownership is the method, killing the secondary market is the objective. 1 month ago:
The $60 → $70 price increase was just Nintendo being greedy, so the metaphorical “carrot” in this context is raising the price of physical copies relative to digital copies to $80 to diminish physical sales further as an excuse to get rid of them entirely, while the “stick” is the game key cards that take any meaning away from owning physical media in the first place.
In any case, disagreement is no reason to insult the intelligence of other users.
- Comment on Killing ownership is the method, killing the secondary market is the objective. 1 month ago:
They could have used the carrot, but pure greed means they’re now opting for the stick.
By raising the prices for all their games and raising them again for physical copies, Nintendo decided the carrot or stick alone just wasn’t profitable enough, and thus chose both.
- Comment on 1 month ago:
Microsoft is looking to boost Xbox profitability and Nintendo has allowed developers to sell blank cartridges, so I’m sure both of them will do the same while simultaneously increasing game prices.

Reading it over a bit better now, I guess if one doesn’t get the Crown, gets the cigarette, and uses the cigarette to get access to the ladder, the need to go past the troll is effectively bypassed. One could then trade the fishbowl for the lightbowl, get the earth nugget, and bypass the need to visit the troll via Ω3 instead (using the taser), bringing the end item count to 9.

Spoiler
Interesting puzzle. Starting out by looking at the portals, Ω1 is needed to unlock ¿9, Ω2 for Ÿ6, Ω4 for Ÿ9 and ¿13, Ω5 for ¿7, Ÿ8, ¿8, and Ω7, and Ω7 for the end, while Ω3 and Ω6 do nothing. Because of one-way paths and death markers, □3 and Ÿ7 are not accessible on a valid path. Because Ÿ9 effectively serves as a one-way path (with the alternative Ω6 being a death trap), Ω4 is also effectively useless and ¿13 (Ladder) is inaccessible. A starting route should pass Ÿ1 (Fish), retrieve ¿3 (Crown) and ¿12 (Key) from Ÿ3 (Delivery Boy), and use the Key on □4 to proceed past Ÿ2 (Bridge Troll). As returning past the Bridge Troll is effectively a one-way path, the Lightbowl and ¿9 (Earth Nugget) via Ω1 are inaccessible on a valid path. At this point (and before further teleports), there is direct access to Ω5, ¿2, Ÿ5, □2 (flavor text), ¿10, Ω2, □5 (flavor text), Ÿ4, and Ω4. Counting Ω2, Ω4, and Ω5, there is also access to Ÿ6, ¿7, Ÿ8, ¿8, and Ω7 (and by extension, the end). Before accounting for further creatures, the inventory has ¿2 (Paradox), ¿3 (Crown), ¿7 (Fire Nugget), ¿8 (Water Nugget), and ¿10 (Wind Nugget). In terms of further creatures, there is access to Ÿ4, Ÿ5, Ÿ7, and Ÿ8. Ÿ4 (High Priestess) gives ¿1 (Fishbowl), while Ÿ8 (Crazy One) gives ¿11 (Taser), bringing the inventory item count to 7 items. If the Crown is left behind, one could get ¿5 (Cigarette) from Ÿ6 (Emperor) and exchange it for ¿6 (Egg) from Ÿ5 (Mute Boy and Chicken), but the item count would still be 7. With 7 items, one should be able to leave the maze via Ω7 optimally.
