    She said: “If you’re a failed asylum-seeking family, what you’re trading off is an offer of £40,000, which will help you resettle back in your country of origin, versus, you know, access to free healthcare and education for your children.”

    If people are being paid to leave the U.K. and return to their country of origin, seemingly it would be more efficient just to fund stability-improvement programs in applicable countries to reduce the outflow of asylum seekers?

    The median wage is £40k. Literally cheaper to pay them to stay.
