Yeah, I see a ton of this under random.
Here's my front page at this very moment: https://i.imgur.com/4IsJ68f.png - Comment on Name & same. :) 6 months ago:
Ah, that makes more sense. I looked up the original abstract and indeed it looks more like what you'd expect (hard to comprehend for someone that's not in the field).
Though to clarify (for others reading this) they still did use generative AI to (help?) write the paper, which is only part of why it was withdrawn.

The entire abstract is AI. Even without the explicit mention in one sentence, the rest of the text should've been rejected as nonspecific nonsense.

And on kbin it shows as strikethrough, so the 2s are crossed out.

Even if encrypted this doesn't sound like something compatible with the GDPR.
- Comment on What do you personally use AI for? 7 months ago:
Mostly for finding information that for whatever reason can be difficult to find using search engines. For example, I've used ChatGPT to ask spoiler-free questions about plot points in books I'm reading, which has worked rather well. It hasn't spoiled me yet, but rather tells me that giving more information would be a spoiler.
Last time I tried to look something up on Google, carefully, I got a massive spoiler for the end of the entire book series.
I also use it for code-related questions at times, but very rarely, and mostly when using a language I'm not used to. Such as when I wrote an expect script for the first (and perhaps only) time recently.

I'm never giving it up out of principle, but I dunno about the RAM usage. Firefox was above 7GB last I looked. I have RAM to spare though, so I don't really care.
- Comment on Sometimes when I say danke (thanks or thank you) some of my friends will say (and the spelling is wrong but it's as close as I can get) they will say danata or maybe it's dinata. 9 months ago:
Swedish too. I've always assumed the implicit meaning is roughly "there is [no reason] to thank me".

Yep, that was beyond ridiculous IMO. Not sure how they felt it made enough sense to turn into a big season-long thing, affecting the entire future timeline of Star Trek.
Though I think Species 10-C (season 4) was an awesome episode that is rather underrated.
- Comment on Why advertise on YouTube? 1 year ago:
Ads work way better than you think. Perhaps the most important thing they do is to make you aware the brand exists, and to keep it in mind when you're looking for a service/product. You're way more likely to buy something you've heard of, even if it's from ads.

- Comment on Star Trek executive producer wants more Strange New Worlds episodes, and I’m nervous 1 year ago:
I'm not sure how it's madness. An episode can be bad in itself and not contribute anything of value to the greater story arc, in which case I don't see why it's wrong to see it as bad.
- Comment on Star Trek executive producer wants more Strange New Worlds episodes, and I’m nervous 1 year ago:
TNG was great, and the best episodes are incredible, but most episodes were fairly mediocre. I feel SNW's average is higher, and it's probably in part for having LESS than half the number of episodes per season.
I think they'd be fine with 12, maybe even 14, but beyond that I don't they could keep it as great as it's been.
- Comment on How ‘Star Trek: Strange New Worlds’ Brought Its Delightful Musical Episode to Life: ‘You’re Like, Wait, Spock Is Singing Now?!’ 1 year ago:
It does move the plot forward in many relationships though, worth watching for that reason alone.
I also mostly cringe at the musical parts, but overall I don't regret watching it. - Comment on When Baldur's Gate 3 came out, Steam's overall bandwidth consumption went from around 18 Tbps to 146 Tbps 1 year ago:
I wouldn't say it's overhead. When you zoom a bit it's more like a third party view, except you can move the camera around.
