when they say “extremely difficult to remove”, they mean when you want to keep your garden intact. you tear up the ground and build a data center, you really don’t have to worry about bamboo. if this had any sort of basis in reality, then there wouldn’t be a whole lot of cities in china, would there? I really hope none of you actually fell for this shit, because if you did then you need to seriously consider being a little skeptical of things you read online.
also, don’t go planting invasive species, we all deal with enough of those fucking up the environment already. it’s a serious crime for a reason, and that reason is it can destroy an environment and push local species to extinction, and millions or billions of those taxpayer dollars you don’t want to go to building data centers will instead be used to fix the stupid problems you created because you fell for some pseudoscience internet meme.

TIL that Europeans are afraid of turtles. I used to have one of these as a pet.

racoons are mostly harmless, besides the occasional mess they make with a trash can.

must have some value in that regard, it was introduced in the US during the Great Depression as a way to feed people. turns out though, when they aren’t starving, people won’t eat just anything.
- Comment on Mint 1 month ago:
I’m aware it’s edible, I’m saying it doesn’t taste good.
- Comment on Mint 1 month ago:
you guys make a lot of fuss about a plant that is tasty and you can eat.
I just wish Kudzu tasted half as fun.

you don’t need a subscription to use bittorrent.

The game was trash on the PC, and they thought that downgrading it to a console was going to make it playable?

uBlock has all the same functions as NoScript, if you enable the advanced user mode.
- Comment on It seems that Valve is working on a "SteamGPT" feature that will apparently deal with Steam support issues and is somehow connected to Trust Score and CS2 anti-cheat 2 months ago:
with the amount of information they collect on their customers, it better be damn good. honestly, the only reason it’s not a huge privacy problem is because they zealously guard that data to protect their near monopoly on PC gaming.
Gabe has been pandering to gamers and mostly giving us what we want, but when he dies, we better hope the next dude in charge isn’t some corporate suit that only cares about maximizing profits in every way that they can, or the enshitification of Steam is going to really fucking hurt. imagine if Valve was run like Microsoft. for example, the next guy might cut a deal with Microsoft to stop supporting Proton.

What’s this “we” bit? I’ve never paid them anything, and I still don’t see ads.
- Comment on Does the engine a game uses factor into your decision to buy it or not? 2 months ago:
No. For example, I’ve seen a lot of games use Unreal, and almost all of them ran perfectly fine. It’s almost always the dev or publisher at fault for a shitty game. Usually the publisher, in the case of AAA games.
- Comment on Why is gaming becoming so expensive? The answer is found in AI 2 months ago:
gaming started getting expensive when micro-transactions became a thing. AI is just the latest fad they can blame their price gouging on. because when the AI bubble pops, that PS5 ain’t going back down in price.

Technically uBlock is still an extension.
yes, and it’s an extension that anyone using the fediverse almost certainly already has installed.
- Comment on You need to install an extension to reject cookies in websites that use Google Analytics 2 months ago:
No you didn’t? Just block it with uBlock, which you need to make the web usable in the first place.

I saw a bathroom like this that had the metal thing for you to pull the door open with your foot instead.
The door required the handle to be turned in order for it to open.
