I must restate that the option of syncing subtitles by hand is still available in the interface, as mentioned in the post. It is only the question of how to deterministically set the subtitle delay without resorting to tinkering with the controls randomly.

Unfortunately from where I watch movies it is pretty common for the stream and the subtitles to not sync by default as they come from different sources, so syncing them manually is inevitable.

I watch movies online in my browser through uhh… alternative means. Subtitle formats aren’t listed explicitly, though I assume it is .lrc given they are imported from open subtitles.org.

This is solely to keep the premise of the simple and clear. The device only has one objective: to create a copy of itself. The problem only concerns itself with whether it is theoretically even possible to construct such a device.

This post focuses on developing a purely mechanical device for the given purpose. Also it does not need to repair itself, it can sustain wear and tear as mentioned in constraint 6. It only needs to be able to create at least one copy that matches it structurally and functionally as stated in constraint 1 and 2.

I haven’t since then. I only did back in May just as a precautionary measure against the multitude of Linux vulnerabilities and exploits being announced that month, else I wouldn’t have bothered.

It’s a recent budget-tier model made for gaming. It may struggle to play AAA games but works exceptionally well for the handful of games I regularly play. Gameplay wise the experience in CachyOS is virtually same as when I used Windows before. The rest of the OS feels snappy and responsive throughout so I don’t have any complaints with that.
