- Comment on Young gamers in Japan may not be forming the same attachment to Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest because modern dev cycles are as long as their childhood, users theorize - AUTOMATON WEST 3 days ago:
We can but it generally looks and controls like crap on modern screens. It has aged worse than many tank control games like Resident Evil.
Lots of people just wanted a nice graphical update with some quality of life improvements. I’m sure that shouldn’t take a decade and hundreds of millions of dollars to complete.

SE’s obsession with making every mainline FF game a 100+ million dollar project with hours of cutscenes and a combat system ill suited to fight the skyscraper sized enemies is killing the series.
They’re obsessed with spectacle. Nobody really cares about spectacle anymore.
- Comment on DEAD OR ALIVE New Project - Teaser Trailer 4 days ago:
It’s pretty good as a fighting game. Fast, fun and easy to learn.

I wonder how much DLC this one will have?
- Comment on Next-Generation Xbox Could Launch in 2027, Hints AMD - IGN 1 week ago:
Every game that runs at 30fps is already pushing the hardware to its limits. We have lots of those.
Gameplay innovations are mostly dead. You’re gonna play a live service game and buy cosmetic DLC.
- Comment on Capcom Developing Another Monster Hunter Wilds 'Large-Scale Expansion' Similar to Iceborne - IGN 1 week ago:
MH Wilds needs an engine rework and redesign more than it needs an expansion.

Those tears are your eyes trying to antialias those chunky pixels.

The original has an infinitely better story and pacing.
Remake is a sequel. Lots of things won’t make sense unless there’s prior knowledge of the original.
- Comment on Horizon Hunters Gathering reportedly delays Horizon 3, as Sony prioritizes multiplayer PS5 game 1 week ago:
Yeah, I really wanted to like it. I tried.
It’s weird that I literally spent hours reading all the hidden lore and clues putting together the Elden Ring lore but HZD with its much better visuals and presentation couldn’t keep my attention.
- Comment on Horizon Hunters Gathering reportedly delays Horizon 3, as Sony prioritizes multiplayer PS5 game 1 week ago:
Actually, the writing is what made me stop.
Aloy speaks too much like a college educated woman and does not seem to have any negative traits from having been raised as an exiled hermit. What could have been a bunch of fun and interesting interactions ended up with Aloy always being right and very well adjusted.
- Comment on Horizon Hunters Gathering reportedly delays Horizon 3, as Sony prioritizes multiplayer PS5 game 1 week ago:
Sony second party games released on PC because their AAA games cost too much to make so they need a better return on their investment.
Pretty much undercut their entire console platform.
- Comment on Horizon Hunters Gathering reportedly delays Horizon 3, as Sony prioritizes multiplayer PS5 game 1 week ago:
Guerrila Games is a developer that is amazing at the tech stuff but their game design is 100% derivative.
I can’t even get through HZD because it’s just 100% Ubisoft open world design. It’s a beautiful world but it’s no fun to explore.
- Comment on Rumor: Voice actor page leaks Xenoblade game for 2026 2 weeks ago:
If you’re on PC then emulation of the Switch Xenoblade games is a great option. Play the game the way the developer intended.
- Comment on Rumor: Voice actor page leaks Xenoblade game for 2026 2 weeks ago:
Xenoblade 2 runs anywhere between 378-540p in handheld mode. That’s often below N64 resolution.
- Comment on Rumor: Voice actor page leaks Xenoblade game for 2026 2 weeks ago:
The entire Xenoblade collection needs a Switch 2 update. The Switch 1 was always way too weak for these games.
- Comment on Why adding modern controls to 1996's Tomb Raider simply doesn't work 3 weeks ago:
I feel like a modern Tomb Raider could copy a lot of Death Stranding traversal gameplay.
I want a TR game that allows the player to choose Lara’s loadout of weapons, clothes, rope, harness, climbing equipment, etc.
It should be challenging to raid a Tomb but players must get whatever was raided out safely.
- Comment on Why adding modern controls to 1996's Tomb Raider simply doesn't work 3 weeks ago:
It uses 1.1 through 1.4 for a single controller and 2.1 through 2.4 for dual controller setup.
Also, a the main reason why it feels like crap is because emulators do not translate the analog feel of the N64 correctly making a lot of those games feel super twitchy and very inaccurate.
I highly recommend trying out the decompiled version of Goldeneye and Perfect Dark.
- Comment on Why adding modern controls to 1996's Tomb Raider simply doesn't work 3 weeks ago:
Gondeneye always has a dual analog gameplay option just like modern games. It requires the use of 2 N64 controllers. It also let you turn off all the auto-aim if you really wanted to flex your analog skills.

There is definite live service game fatigue going on.

Always been changing = the people at the top fired a lot of talent.
- Comment on 4 weeks ago:
I remember when the Xbox 360 put ads of their which my friend defended because it would give him “relevant ads”. Its made the menu slower. Every game ad is relevant but completely unnecessary since the console has its online store built in.
That’s the first time I saw the console purposely get worse for zero good reason.

You make a good point. I’m glad it died because mindless grind with RNG loot is boring as shit.

I remember watching an interview of one of the developers of DA2 and I could tell that he had no idea what people liked in video games. It killed my interest.

I need 800fps. One of my Steam games was 800+ fps on its HUD even though it was on a 60fps monitor. My GPU was going at 100%.

- Comment on Switch 2 Sales Reportedly Struggled Over The Christmas Period 5 weeks ago:
Switch 2 desperately needs a TV-only version. I imagine the manufacturing cost would be drastically lower.
- Comment on Switch 2 Sales Reportedly Struggled Over The Christmas Period 5 weeks ago:
Online play on the Switch is $20 a year. The fact that they charge for online play and save backups is bullshit but not anywhere as bad as people pretend.
Isn’t Pokémon like a regular game you only need to buy once?
