Why would they create the optical to digital DRM program if they were keeping optical drives in the next system?
MS wanted to kill the secondary market since the start of the 8th generation in 2014. Their DRM rules are a big reason why a lot of people dropped Xbox to switch to PlayStation.

I haven’t tried the Indiana Jones game. I usually stay away from games with preexisting licenses because they tend to be more for general audiences than people that are into gaming.

The reboot trilogy was a bit too close to Uncharted. I enjoyed those as shooters but they never felt like a true continuation of classic Lara Croft games.
Death Stranding style of traversal challenge is closer to classic Lara Croft than Uncharted ever was. The bean counters only follow trends though.

Sony has released very few single player games this generation on purpose. Single player games are perfect for physical media.
Sony wants everyone to play live service games to sell the game, the updates and the online subscription. It is part of the plan.

5 generations of owning PlayStations. I have disks from the 90s that still work perfectly well. It was good while it lasted.

The entire point was gamepass.
The sell was with gamepass all these games are “free” on day one. If they release on other platform, they are full price.
All the other stuff is just temporary drama that would get resolved once the competition dies. The long term plan was for all the Activision Blizzard and Zenimax fans to buy Xboxes and be locked in that ecosystem until the end of time.

Spending 70 billion dollars for gamepass content never seemed like a viable strategy.
There’s also the issue that I don’t think there are enough customers that would trust Microsoft in a pure rental situation.
MS’s other money makers have all turned to complete trash. The only business strategy that MS understands is monopoly.

The $60 price point was helped by the market expanding but that is going to be difficult with the hardware costs.
Devs need to bring down production costs. They should be making games at PS2 quality instead of maxing out PS5 Pros.
