Buy better toilet rolls, quilted ultra soft from good brands. Your butthole will thank you.
- Comment on How do phone scammers work? I get them trying to get another persons money. But how do they get all the info and now can do voice fakes. I highly doubt they just pick a random person and say fuck them 2 weeks ago:
Yes they pick a random person. Or the random person call them believing that the scammer is actually a legitimate service. If you Google “my computer has virus”, you will find plenty of fake “Microsoft support “ numbers to call.
They only get all the info when they “verify” the info and the victim willingly provides the info. They create a convincing story whether a risk that they claim to be able to mitigate if the victim cooperates, or they fake a prize that requires a certain action to obtain.

A birthday is just a day, just like the day before and the day after. There is nothing that dramatically changes overnight except for the number.

- Comment on Is "AI" the end of truth? 3 weeks ago:
It used to be that only the rich and the powerful had access to fake videos. Many people believed in such videos because of that.
Now that fake videos are common, more people become suspicious of the authencity, which might be a good thing.
During the Tibet unrest in 2008, Chinese media produced videos of the "riot" which were obviously CGI. Nobody doubted because it wasn't comon to have fake videos at the time.

We don’t need gen-AI to produce realistic looking videos. We already have the technology for decades, but reality hasn’t collapsed yet. With gen-AI it is just cheaper and quicker to make.

I am not sure if PieFed is in beta, it has been very reliable to me, and now with mobile app support. It is under very active development, we see new features popping up regularly. It already has some unique features not available on lemmy.
Lemmygrad and Hexbear are on the block list of piefed.social, and PieFed handles instance block much better than lemmy. I've added lemmy.ml from my personal block list, and I see absolutely nothing from lemmy.ml users.

Federation works very well on PieFed. Based on the message on your profile, you should consider using software not developed by tankies.

If you are holding it in your hands, phone. If you use a stand, tablet.
There is huge difference in display quality between tablets. Best to see one in person instead of just reading the specs.

Insult. Unless you’re so smart that it is obviously a joke.
- Comment on If I invented a shirt that caused cameras to be damaged when filmed/photographed, would I be committing a crime by wearing the shirt at events with cameras? 4 weeks ago:
- Create sentient AI
- Let AI take control of the internet upon receiving the QR code
- Wear your t-shirt containing the QR code, show it to a camera connected to the internet
- Now AI takes over the world

- Comment on In languages which use complex written characters (such as Chinese's logographs), is there an equivalent to English's "text speak" shorthand? 2 months ago:
There are different input methods. I use phoenetic one so I only have to type 3 letters and select the character.
There is also "quick" input method which you only need to pay attention to 2 parts of the character when you type, then it gives you a selection of the most likely characters.
- Comment on In languages which use complex written characters (such as Chinese's logographs), is there an equivalent to English's "text speak" shorthand? 2 months ago:
Yes. For example in Chinese underground metro is 地下鐵路 roughly “ground under metal road”.
The shorthand is 地鐵, roughly “ground metal”. And everyone understands that as the metro.
