Imagine for a moment, a hypothetical world, where there are other countries an the USA. Now we’re really stretching it, but imagine if those countries had a draft.

2004 was not the best looking years but a 1994 hatch? That is a classy ride.

- Comment on Is there a way to filter news on lemmy 1 week ago:
Aggressively block every community that has to do with news or has news posted to it. Then, if you’re on a mobile app that supports keyword filtering, aggressively filter out every word of news you don’t want to see. Then aggressively block users if they post or comment news you don’t want to see. After doing that for a few weeks or months you’ll start to see a normal newsfeed. But Lemmy is nearly unusable without it.
This is the strategy I use to avoid contact with a people group from a specific shithole country and it seems to work decent. Although there’s always posts that sneak through the cracks.

Oof. I may never recover from this one.
- Comment on GOG job listing for a Senior Software Engineer notes "Linux is the next major frontier" 1 week ago:
There’s no push back from the developers at my company or the developers that I interact with. We have been embracing it for the use cases that AI is good at. There is lots of manual effort that us software developers don’t like doing that AI automates easily. I believe the mass layoffs that companies are doing are using AI as a convenient excuse in uncertain economic conditions.
- Comment on GOG job listing for a Senior Software Engineer notes "Linux is the next major frontier" 1 week ago:
I never said anything about artists. I don’t think AI has much use in artistic endeavors. I’m talking about jobs.
- Comment on GOG job listing for a Senior Software Engineer notes "Linux is the next major frontier" 1 week ago:
I’m not arguing that using AI makes me a software developer. I’m saying that as a software developer, I seek to use the best tools for the job, just like any other job.

Anti AI arguments are always good for a laugh. I enjoy using the best tools for my job. Sometimes the best tool for software development is AI. Sometimes AI does a bad job and other tools work best. What does that make me? A software developer, I suppose.
- Comment on GOG job listing for a Senior Software Engineer notes "Linux is the next major frontier" 1 week ago:
Sounds like a regular software development job where instead of being a Luddite, people use the latest technology for the job.

It has always been 4gb I believe. Now with the RAM situation I doubt the requirements will go up anytime soon. 4gb budget machines will probably become more commonplace unfortunately.
- Comment on Anon time travels 2 weeks ago:
It’s crazy. It shouldn’t be allowed, and Microsoft should not approve of OEMs shipping 4gb laptops with Windows 11. But 4gb is the official minimum requirement for Win 11. What is crazy as well is that he bought it about a year ago, when RAM prices were still cheap.
- Comment on Anon time travels 2 weeks ago:
My friend bought a brand new Win 11 laptop recently with 4gb RAM and something that kinda resembles a CPU. In it’s default state it couldn’t browse the internet. It also has EMMC storage so that is slow as well. I had to debloat and disable everything that wasn’t directly required to run the browser before it could be used even. But it was $100 CAD new so I guess you get what you pay for.

I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan of that era/style of RPGs but To The Moon is an absolutely fantastic game.

- Comment on Does anyone else feel like "analog" stuff is more "tangible"? 3 weeks ago:
Digital with proper backups will last longer than most non-archival analog media. But there’s always weaknesses to every medium. Fire and flood will destroy analog media. Even just humidity, mold, sunlight, too cold, too hot, everyday conditions can damage analog media.

I love the anti AI crowd. They hate AI use but they can’t tell what is AI or not, so they just say everything is AI. That way they’ll cover it all. I remember this post from several years ago, if I had to guess it was probably 8 years ago when it was first posted.

- Comment on If Browser and Wario are Mario's mortal ennemies, why did he invited them for a kart race? 1 month ago:
This exact question was answered by one of the Mario creators actually.
GAME INFORMER: Time and again, Bowser kidnaps Peach. Why do Mario and Peach still race go-karts and play tennis with him?SHIGERU MIYAMOTO: If you’re familiar with things like Popeye and some of the old comic characters, you would oftentimes see this cast of characters that takes on different roles depending on the comic or cartoon. They might be businessman in one [cartoon] or a pirate in another. Depending on the story that was being told, they would change roles. So, to a certain degree, I look at our characters in a similar way and feel that they can take on different roles in different games. It’s more like they’re one big family, or maybe a troupe of actors.

- Comment on Tencent ‘Horizon clone’ pulled from stores as Sony settles lawsuit 1 month ago:
There is inspired by, there’s a ripoff, and then there’s this. Tencent tried to get the licence beforehand so what I think happened is they built a Horizon game intending to get the licence, they failed to get it, so they just released the game anyways.
