I’ve never had trouble with touch screen D-pads ^^; again part of the problem I suppose, because it seems by your post people hate the things I’m genuinely satisfied with. I hope the general controller-liking population gets things to serve their needs too, though.

Did not know Tillamook was employee-owned. Their ice cream is great, now I have a reason to prioritize buying from them.
- Comment on Smaller gaming channels 2 days ago:
Not sure what qualifies as small-medium. I have appreciated Let’s Game It Out (6.02M subs), ymfah (1.19M subs), Tech Rules (432K subs), MartSnacks (80.1K subs). All focusing on cool gaming content, no being A YouTube Personality who shows their face and tries to form a parasocial relationship with you.

I’m probably part of the problem. I’ve never used a controller except a few times at friends’ houses. I grew up with Nintendo DS, Wii, PC, and smartphone games. I don’t want to ever have to pick up a controller.

As a !pokemon@lemm.ee fan I didn’t buy for these reasons but that doesn’t stop hordes of parents or certain fans from buying anyways. If they’re happy, I guess… meanwhile I’ll be fine as long as they don’t go after ROM hacks.

I don’t give a crap about Overwatch but I am happy for the devs and hope this leads to more unionization in the video game industry.

this unironically makes me wonder if there are any games with the gameplay being just painting a wall

I read your comment less as critique and more as “fucking fans who like Pokémon” but I have a history of confusing harsh tone for a negative “you can’t like this thing, because I think there is too much of it” attitude. Sorry if I misinterpreted you.

Huge preferrer of 2D here, will admit the size variations made possible with 3D is a point in their favor for me.
- Comment on Would you like to see a mainline Pokemon game created in the old style? 3 days ago:
Nope, but fans would like one. If you don’t want one I don’t see what the problem is if you just disengage from the series.

In general, Pokémon ROM hacks are cool and fans of the 2D or old game style like me should definitely give these more attention.

Took me a little to realize Marcus was autocorrected Arceus. Pokémon Marcus sounds amusing.
- Comment on Would you like to see a mainline Pokemon game created in the old style? 4 days ago:
Absolutely yes. I much prefer the 2D Pokémon artstyle to the 3D models.

I’d imagine people who are really into “Choices Matter” and some people who are really into story would.
I play !visualnovels@ani.social and half the fun is seeing what decisions lead to different outcomes. And getting different outcomes for different choices, especially if they are big choices, makes me feel like my choices matter and impact the world, as opposed to if all these supposedly important choices can only ever get me 2 or 3 different endings.
Although I do share your question about how popular my opinion is with other gamers.

+1 for Frog Fractions. I finished in about an hour. Cannot tell you much without spoilers, but I can say it’s not one of those surprise horror games. It looks like a kid-friendly game and at least content-wise stays kid-friendly.

Thanks for posting this, we need more people on the Fediverse putting out original content like this. Nice overview of the game for anyone who wants to know what it’ll be like.

Hey, you might want to know that the item in brackets comes first and the link comes second. I see the raw link and the item in brackets, instead of what you probably intended: to have the item in brackets be a clickable link.

Already gaming on Linux, but I have not tried third party tools and this article’s explanation of how to is pretty useful for if I ever do. As well as the more in-depth explanation on why you need compatibility tools in the first place. I have just always taken “the exact software for one OS might not immediately run on the other” as a given.

I enjoyed Rusty’s Retirement, glad to see someone else has played it. (I do count idlers as games.) Cute little desktop idle/incremental game.
- Comment on What is your favorite indie game? 1 week ago:
- Idle Formulas
- Kittens Game
- untitled shark game, if you are stuck on which one to play I recommend at least starting with the original (bottom choice)
- PokéClicker
- The Idle Class, game was probably intended as cynical political commentary on problems with capitalism, but my oversensitive “dammit yes I agree with you but I want to enjoy a game without dooming about the world” self was able to play just fine without getting sad or angry or hopeless
- Swarm Simulator
Lots more I cannot remember off the top of my head
- Comment on What are some good examples of "Where the fuck do you go" kind of games? 1 week ago:
Came looking for someone to say Minecraft. If I’m not good about intentionally placing landmarks and the like I can get myself lost very easily. And sometimes even when I do place landmarks and write down the coordinates of my starting place! I have to tryhard on keeping directions, placing markers everywhere, to prevent getting lost when exploring. Admittedly I am not the greatest with directions in real life.
- Comment on What is your favorite indie game? 1 week ago:
Most of what I play is indie and choosing a favorite is too hard, so instead I’ll go with biggest playtime. Antimatter Dimensions, also on Steam, has quickly shot to having the highest playtime of my Steam library. It is an idle/incremental game.
Not counting that, I’d probably have to go with Stardew Valley.
