Comment on Nintendo Is Already Punishing Switch 2 Users Over Piracy ‘Suspicions’
Elevator7009@lemmy.zip 10 hours agoLuckily at the moment they have a lot more upvotes than downvotes. Probably because they are providing information and aside from the “you are stupid for breaking (a likely-predictable) TOS and expecting nothing to happen” judgment, it’s pretty neutral on passing judgment on the bigger argument at hand: whether this policy should be here in the first place.
I agree with your sentiment, at least, I think Lemmy unfortunately is too eager to namecall anyone who does not share the general popular opinions of the site, which is a shame because I often saw reasonable, civil takes that disagree with the popular opinion written out, and then a reasonable, civil reply to that disagreement… almost. The author just has to toss on some insult at the end. Feels bad to see. I clicked this post because I was genuinely interested in the news but I do have to avoid any kind of news around any big gaming corporation because I’m rather sick of nastiness in the comments, especially when backspacing on just one word per post would render the whole thing a rational discussion.
I say this as a member of the anti-corporate Lemmy hivemind, by the way.

If you see personal insults you should report the comment. Instances and communities have rules. Downvotes aren’t insults though
