- Comment on Why can ballpoint pens fail permanently when they still have so much ink left? 1 day ago:
Usually this means the ball part is stuck and/or the ink surrounding it has dried out.
Here’s a close up of how they work: youtube.com/shorts/7KGqGAlxwJs
If no ink gets transfered unto the ball, it’s not able to write anything.

Unironically, I dislike the 196 stuff. It’s kinda like shitposting, but at least with shitposting you have standards. Just posting anything for the sake of posting something makes me tune out such communities due to the noise.
Considering there’s at least 4 different 196 communities, I understand I am very much in the minority and this is an unpopular opinion.
- Comment on Do sunrise and sunset objectively look different or do they just feel different? 2 days ago:
It’s true that it’s mirrored, but the difference is that Golden Hour is after the sun has risen, and before the sun has set. Before sunrise it’s Blue, and after sunset it’s also Blue. Here’s a visualisation:
I figured OP just mentally attributed it to a difference between sunrise and sunset based on their experience so far, so I didn’t mention it initially.
- Comment on Do sunrise and sunset objectively look different or do they just feel different? 2 days ago:
Nope, you’re absolutely right. These time windows are called “Golden Hour” and “Blue Hour” and are one of the basic principles to keep in mind and use in photography.
Here’s a page explaining things a bit more: www.meredithfontana.com/post/what-is-golden-hour
- Comment on CIA propaganda down the drain 4 days ago:
Exactly, but if you read the Chinese version. (google translated link) then the content is very different.
This not only answers my original question, but also highlights the irony that we trust English Wikipedia pages over social media comments, but not Chinese Wikipedia pages over social media comments.
I was hoping someone with more knowledge about Wikipedia and how language-specific pages are vetted can help figure this one out.
- Comment on CIA propaganda down the drain 4 days ago:
Doesn’t the wiki say the same thing, that it’s considered a myth? English page instead of chinese: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_Credit_System

I thought the same, but the way the shot was framed made the Joy Cons look more like cars racing around. I wonder how that would work, actually.

Yeah that’s fair, I saw McDonald’s and I thought of ovens, so my brain accepted it as oven mitts.

They are two oven mitts, for anyone wondering. A little bit of pen and voilá - you have a goatse

The culture war indeed brings a lot of passionate discussions to the forefront. While it can be divisive, it also encourages people to engage with important issues and share diverse perspectives. It’s true that the mainstream media often portrays it negatively, but there’s value in the honest and raw conversations that emerge. By debating and fighting for our beliefs, we can work towards a better future for America. It’s crucial to keep these dialogues going, how back in nineteen ninety eight the undertaker threw mankind off hell in a cell and plummeted sixteen feet through an announcers table.
- Comment on "2 bedroom" AirBnB. 1 week ago:
There’s a bed in the main area and one in the roof compartment. That technically makes 2 bedrooms.
- Comment on Rumor: New Details On Bungie's Upcoming MOBA Gummy Bears Revealed 1 week ago:
While fundamentally a MOBA, the game’s “Smash Bros.” influences mean it feels distinct from other entries in the genre; falling off maps, and replacing health-bar eliminations.
I don’t think it’s gonna be very popular if it’s “just” a MOBA. While Smash Bros. is a great game on the technical level (except Brawl), they are carried by the massive IPs that appear in the game(s).

Not super related, but a tidbit:
Can you remember when Amazon kept changing the goalposts for Metroid Prime 4? I can, and I’m still annoyed about it to this day.
Depending on Amazon to reveal the release date of a video game is a dumb fucking idea

- Comment on Android games 2 weeks ago:
Try F-Droid, there’s some good quality games in their listing, and it’s a lot more transparent than the Play store.
There’s also a lot more indies (whether new or old) that have made it to mobile, like Stardew Valley, Terraria and Dungeon Clawler, so it’s worth checking out the “premium” category on the Play store to find some decent games too
- Comment on Too bad so many don't understand this simple truth 3 weeks ago:
I know this is the shit posting community, but I’m going to say it anyway: it’s about the balance between the two.
Yes, everyone’s experience is unique and what works for one does not work for another.
That being said, an outside perspective might help you figure things out better because they are more objective and less emotionally attached.
Second, there are professionals and experts that can tell you a lot of things you didn’t know, and while not all have to be applicable, it’s important to weigh their perspective in.
Its about balancing your own experiences with the insight and advice from others.
If you’re just going to blindly refute anyone who’s trying to help you figure out your laces because you keep tripping over them, you’re not gonna be having a good time.
- Comment on Did Apple kill iTunes for windows? 3 weeks ago:
As someone who’s never used Apple devices I was a bit peeved when my car came with an iPod. I spent days trying out random 3rd party software because I refused to use iTunes. In the end, I settled for CopyTrans software.
You still need to have the iTunes services installed afaik, but you can use this program to put music on your device, pad out the meta info on the MP3 files and sync the playlists without having to open iTunes at all.
Maybe not entirely the answer you were looking for, but it was a workable solution for me after days of trial and error, so I’m hoping I can save you those troubles.
