But I have had to worry about cars cooking the atmosphere with their pollution and ending the entire human species. And I think that’s worse than leptospirosis.
- Comment on We live wasted lives 2 weeks ago:
That’s one more anecdote from a communist country than you’ve given.
- Comment on We live wasted lives 2 weeks ago:
I said YOUR country wasn’t communist in the last 2000 years. Many were. Like Catalonia. Like I told you.
- Comment on We live wasted lives 2 weeks ago:
So if someone calls you a git, and you say “I’m not a TRUE git”, is that a no true scotsman too?
- Comment on We live wasted lives 2 weeks ago:
Actually, I think this is a case of the fallacy fallacy
- Comment on We live wasted lives 2 weeks ago:
I just gave you a true scotsman 4 messages ago, genius. You pick those debate skills up at Harvard?
- Comment on We live wasted lives 2 weeks ago:
I don’t believe your country was ever under communism in the last two thousand years. I think you’re actually from a former USSR state. Not even Stalin ever dared to claim that the USSR had achieved communism, and he was an arrogant git who would have said it if he’d had a shred of evidence.

Problems like infant mortality, disease, manual labour, the human species evolved to deal with those. That’s why exercise releases endorphins. Your body is rewarding you for doing what you need to survive. It has strategies to soften those blows and keep you going. Because you have to.
There are no biological coping mechanisms for cars, city noise, pollution, and financial anxiety. These problems didn’t exist in the ancestral environment. Evolution hasn’t had time to protect us from them. They might not hit as hard in the moment, but we can’t heal from the losses they cause us. That’s why chronic stress, suicide, depression and anxiety are so common nowadays. This is worse. Maybe not in objective germs, but it’s worse for a human being. It hits us in our weak points.
- Comment on We live wasted lives 2 weeks ago:
Yeah but most humans didn’t have to live around cars. I’d give up running water to get rid of cars. Cars are worse than running water is good. Sign me up for carrying barrels from the river if I don’t need to worry about being run over.
- Comment on We live wasted lives 2 weeks ago:
That’s still capitalism, genius
- Comment on We live wasted lives 2 weeks ago:
Most communists didn’t use farming as their primary food production. A majority were hunter gatherer societies. Agricultural nations like Catalonia are the exception.

No, sound is a sensation. Sonic disturbances aren’t sound unless someone hears them. That’s why sonic frequencies outside the hearing range aren’t sound.
You should read Berkeley’s Three Dialogues to properly understand the meme.
- Comment on where are worker rights parades? why are we focusing on very limited issues? 5 weeks ago:

The fascists already went for the communists and won, and took out the unions too. Now they’re going for the trans people. You have to put a strong effort on defence if you want to get to a position where people can afford to go on offence. You won’t gain ground by giving it up.
- Comment on where are worker rights parades? why are we focusing on very limited issues? 5 weeks ago:
The Nazis came after the communists and trade unionists before they came for the Jews. At least according to the original version of “first they came”.
There’s a specific order to how rights can be established. Workers’ rights are dismantled before minority rights, and minority rights are to be protected before workers’ rights can be protected.

I think hurting children is wrong, and car pollution gives kids asthma, so we should ban cars.

Were you in a rush to take advantage of leisure time? With a 20 workweek, you’d have lots more leisure time, and you could afford to be more careful with it

Regardless, going for a walk to the restaurant for lunch is a mentally healthy activity for all neurotypes.
- Comment on Ugh it never ends 5 weeks ago:
Sounds like you have some motor issues, probably stress related. You deserve more vacation days. And shorter working hours, so you aren’t so rushed all the time.
When the 40 hour workweek was invented, most workers had a wife at home to do chores. You shouldn’t be working 40 hours a week plus chores! When women started working and the workforce doubled, the standard workweek should have been adjusted to 20 hours a week. You probably wouldn’t have stubbed your toe so pathetically if you only worked 20 hours a week.
- Comment on Ugh it never ends 5 weeks ago:
Maybe you stubbed your toe because the local council chose a poor design for the roadside curbs

- Comment on why does alcohol stop my back pain but medicine doesn't? 5 weeks ago:
Don’t drink and take Gabapentin. They work on different receptors on the same channel. That means they have unpredictable effects together. The effects aren’t additive, they’re more like multiplicative. And more random than either alone.
- Comment on why does alcohol stop my back pain but medicine doesn't? 5 weeks ago:
Sounds like the pain of coming from one of the systems inhibited by the GABAergic system.
