If it makes you feel better, I have no idea who that is because I was already an adult when it came out and had no desire to see it.
- Comment on How many people would a generation ship need to have for inbreeding to not be an issue? 4 weeks ago:
LOL. I mainly got the idea of using genetic modification to increase diversity of a small population from the book Seveneves.
- Comment on How many people would a generation ship need to have for inbreeding to not be an issue? 4 weeks ago:
It seems very plausible that if you can make a generation ship, you could make something like CRISPR to artificially increase genetic diversity/eliminate potential birth defects. Or perhaps just store genetic material for more people than the actual colonists on the ship. You’d probably want to hedge your bets in case there’s a low survival rate. There’s a lot that could go wrong. Ecosystem failure, negative effects of radiation, or just good old fashioned murder.

Nest parasitism is not unique to cuckoos and you can’t really put a value judgement on evolution. Brown-headed cowbirds are the most common nest parasites in North America. There’s lots of species where the parents kill their own children if they either think they aren’t strong enough to survive or if the food supply is too insecure to care for them. It’s just nature.

Well it shouldn’t be a surprise to anyone, but Randy Pitchford is really good at providing ammo for these types of headlines. Guy needs to learn to keep his mouth shut sometimes.

And by inverted you mean inverted from their proper inverted position.
- Comment on What age gap is too big of an age gap if someone's in their early 30's? 2 months ago:
I think life situation is probably more important than strictly age. If you’re an independent 30 year old working a full time job you probably don’t want to date a college student that lives with their parents.

A lot of eBay buyers purchase a thing and either get buyer’s regret and want to cancel it entirely, or somehow get you to knock more off the price. This sounds like them trying to weasel out of a bid they regretted.

How many times have they evolved into grass eaters?

Perhaps, but in my mind a haircut is a service you pay for. You go somewhere for a haircut, you cut your hair at home.
- Comment on Old Man Guide to Grooming 3 months ago:
Makes sense. Outside of people who get unibrows, it really would not have been typical for guys to do eyebrow maintenance when I was growing up. Not sure if that’s changed now…younger guys seem more into fashion and grooming these days in general.

I stopped growing hair and now I shave my head.

Do most younger men groom eyebrows these days?

It’s scene stuff, probably taken from usenet. They use it there because files are often incompete and you want smaller chunks for parity purposes. There’s no real advantage for torrents.

That whole survival crafting genre seems very hit or miss to me, and I’ve noticed that people liking one game in the genre is a very poor predictor of whether they’ll like another one. Subnautica, Don’t Starve, Minecraft, and Ark are all theoretically the same genre but very different games.

I’d love to see another more standard turn based FF, but people also have to realize that the last pure turn based game was X in 2001. FF changing shit with every game is what FF does.

Also alt.adjective.noun.verb.verb.verb was a pretty common name for, uh, shitposting newsgroups. Whatever we called shitposting back then, I can’t remember.
