It also sounds like they targeted you specifically while you were waiting in line. So not only did they only approach you about it when they could’ve asked anybody, they approached you in a place where it’s hard for you to just walk away. That’s sus to me, I think your instincts were right to not give them an in.
- Comment on "Can i ask you for a favor?" Is it rude to say no? 4 days ago:
Bit rude, yeah, but sometimes it’s better to be rude than let someone cross your boundaries. How much more awkward is it if you say “yes” or “maybe” and then they ask if they can borrow your phone or something and you have to evaluate whether you trust this random person while they’re looking right at you? A lot of people are definitely asking this way because it gets you to let your guard down and they know you would’ve said no if they’d just straight asked. Personally I tend to respond with “you can ask” or something like that. Making it pretty clear that I’m skeptical of what they’re going to ask. But my default assumption of other people in a city is that they’re potentially either trying to scam me or rob me.

As a regular Costco shopper, no a pack like that wouldn’t be anywhere near that much, and no that many won’t last nearly as long as you think. Perhaps this isn’t USD though.
- Comment on Special sampling opportunity 1 week ago:
I don’t think Costco ever jacked up the prices like that, it was just unavailable for a long time.
- Comment on Now that the Chrisleys are pardoned. Does that mean they still have to pay back the fraudulant money they stole? Or is that written off to? 2 weeks ago:
Well, being pardoned wouldn’t shield them from civil liability. So assuming they still have money (trials are generally pretty expensive)there could be a lot of lawsuits incoming.

I’m willing to bet that someone involved had lived in (or had a friend who lived in) an apartment with an awkwardly placed door like this and thought it was the perfect detail to convey how crappy the apartment was supposed to be.
- Comment on Are standing seats on airliners actually going to be a thing? 2 weeks ago:
I just dont think you have as many short haul flights in the US where this sort of thing would not be as big of a deal.
- Comment on Are standing seats on airliners actually going to be a thing? 2 weeks ago:
In Europe on airlines like Ryanair, definitely. I don’t know if I see them taking off in the US.

Yeah, that is why I left a little wiggle room in my statements. But coordinated movements when the cranial cavity is so damaged that chunks of brain are spilling out? A deer’s brain isn’t even very large. There’s hardly chunks to be had there. I dunno there’s some chance that the deer was already dead and this is just some sort of postmortem spasms. But I am just doubtful over the whole thing as written.

Yeah, you should definitely have a massive hangover in the morning, too
- Comment on Sleep well 3 weeks ago:
Yeah that’s really the part that makes me think it’s exaggerated, misremembered, or just completely false.
- Comment on Sleep well 3 weeks ago:
It’s possible that this is chronic wasting disease or something, but I’m more inclined to think it’s bullshit.
- Comment on I'm gay and I dunno what it means 3 weeks ago:
I dunno anything about styling longer hair, but I’m going to guess that the tighter curls on the right look less messy. But it does seem like a pretty toxic attitude displayed.

To be fair to him, he used a lot of color motifs on Breaking Bad.

Is this Vince Gilligan’s fault?
- Comment on Oof 4 weeks ago:
Definitely didn’t do that in the hopes that it would mildly annoy someone else as much as OP mildly annoyed me.

Sounds like it includes mammals in the cladistic sense though. So pre-manmals?

That picture looks awfully mammalian

Incidentally I don’t think this is actually evolution; more learned behavior. They repeat the tone we respond to the most. My cat also bites my foot when he wants attention because he has learned that it’s hard for me to ignore.
- Comment on how to get unbanned from communities? 5 weeks ago:
Just throwing this out there…you can just hop over to another instance and viola! No bans.
(This seems like a flaw in the fediverse model, given how easy it is to instance hop.)

You can do math without a computer, it turns out.
- Comment on Whenever a beast is shown on screen 5 weeks ago:
There are lots of different success strategies in nature and perhaps in the era of megafauna the direct approach would’ve been more viable. I’m not sure that we know. The depiction of the T-Rex in Jurassic Park is pretty out of date in general, but it’s also from over 30 years ago.
- Comment on sus 5 weeks ago:
LOL. I know that’s how it works because I’ve done it several times.
- Comment on sus 5 weeks ago:
Er? You absolutely can do an STI screen without symptoms. Some of the most common STIs don’t even usually have symptoms.
- Comment on Game preservationists say Switch 2 Game-Key Cards are ‘disheartening’ but inevitable 1 month ago:
I’m willing to bet that 95% of their customers do not have an issue with this. Probably the majority don’t even realize that someone could have an issue with this. People are already very used to having to do big downloads with games and a lot of switch 1 games were already requiring half of the game to be downloaded due to large cart costs. Also tbh I don’t think it’s really a preservation issue as long as piracy exists.

I think it might be a griffon…drawn by someone who’s never actually seen a lion.

I think the “why” behind a lot of these is “being a monk is really boring”.
