Vector/polygonal, truly implemented for the technical benefits* and likely untextured**. Which will make it more niche than the early 3D stuff that did use vertex colors.
3D polygonal+vertex color actually isn’t that difficult to do. I’ve done some, the real issue (aside from making it good) is actually the animation/game around it. I haven’t done much and continue not doing much because personal stuff.
* less data while also rendering at native res without needing extra work (8K or even on a 50ft Billboard? Sure). MIDI (you can use higher-quality soundfonts) or other procedural stuff (sounds, textures) are nice too.
** I’m not against not-too-many general-use textures, but I tried this without mapping (including watercolor) and wasn’t really happy with the results… plus normal maps won’t work with per-vertex materials¯. So this probably takes a lot of effort/skill to work as-intended.
¯ not strictly necessary, but I don’t mind the idea aesthetically and a free optimization sounds nice even though this aesthetic is already a low bar (unless it could help with webGL, mobile, VR, or really old devices etc?)

What are the steps to reproduce an art style using computer programs and without artificial intelligence?

- Comment on Is it better to leave a country, or stay behind to fight for it? And what about the ethics of fleeing instead of staying behind? 4 days ago:
Generally, I feel like it depends on how viable it seems to fix. Is this the same issue that people marched about 50+ years ago?
Specific elephant in the room, what possible fix within 2-4 decades is there when the right has most of the keys including a stacked supreme court?
Personally, I can’t really fight or leave. I am nowhere close to anything politically relevant… I have no transportation, income, or ID/passport etc. I am a shut-in with untreated health issues. I’m just letting the days go by.
- Comment on The gentrified forest near me removed the bins. .. From their café/picnic area 1 week ago:
I looked it up and they seem to still have them in train stations plus in areas where trash/recyclables is expected to be generated (convenience stores, vending machines, parks) so it seems like a bit of a stretch (also the reason for less trash cans also being a 1995 sarin gas attack).
Even just the train station bit seems like an unfair comparison for places without any sort of public transportation (where people walked/biked from home). Yeah, I can see people being more likely to hold their trash if passing receptacles is part of their planned route.

- Comment on If any external factor made you create art, would your art be created by that factor? 3 weeks ago:
It’s called being cultured, like cheese. Though art is a bit different as whatever shapes you does so long-term, even if you could zap away issues instantly the memory and thus influence will still be there.
Also health/brain issues for me are likely a bigger detriment than anything, resulting in me doing nothing most of the time (small chores on a good day). So anything created is a rare win in spite of that.
- Comment on gigachad 3 weeks ago:
More than cool, add in other enhancements and most 3D games don’t need a remaster that will most likely be bloated data-wise.
Particularly when it comes to vertex colors (see Spyro’s skyboxes) rendering at modern res immaculately, upselling into photorealism is just throwing out the smartest and most unique thing the game had.

- Comment on Have you tried coping harder? 1 month ago:
As someone untreated (and shut-in), the grass isn’t green here either. I don’t know what the here-and-now alternative is, especially as a well-understood and very-effective med that can be taken irregularly is probably an exception rather than the norm (esp. for something serious/underlying).
I take more issue with the cost and hoops of the US health-insurance system (+other stuff like transportation). It’s a failure even by “pick two” standards… if it’s “you try this first” or 4 appointments for testing/specialists before one step is made it would be much better if bureaucracy weren’t also an issue.
Specifically with the gov’t imploding now (and the impending rug pull) I’m not sure what I could ever do unless there was a real change someone will let me be a test subject for physical brain preservation (and they’d move my brain some other not-imploding country).

Go into a local field and tame a wild horse??? Probably healthier that way anyways (all-natural, soul-bond)
- Comment on Have you tried coping harder? 1 month ago:
But did you know that women who own horses are likely to live on average 15 years longer than women who do not own horses? Why wouldn’t people get a majestic car-sized animal to improve their well-being, are they stupid?
- Comment on Anon is 33 1 month ago:
The last 2 lines of the text make it sound like bait if the 6-figure thing wasn’t a joke (otherwise, delusional). Depression likely, if not other health issues that led to this.
I am not quite as bad as the text but for me: parents are doing their own thing (these days, computer time), almost as isolated as I am.
It probably helps that I do tasks for them (mostly sweeping, unloading dishwasher/garbage, carrying firewood etc). Not that I can do much given that I, much like they (who are anti-doctor), have untreated health issues. Seemingly is enough they don’t threaten to kick me out (though maybe they know that I would just leave with no place to go, and likely die).
Also it was unlikely in car-centric areas of the USA as-it-was
but I don’t think there’s hard-working out of this after medicaid is gutted (not that was even an easily accessible path before). Maybe anon can lose 50 pounds, get a hobby, and leave the house a few times a month when the weather is nice… but probably not getting a job/moving out with no help while the government implodes and normal people were already struggling to pay bills.

I lost interest enough to delete the models I had before and this headline made me look into deepseek.
Though this seems to have traded compute for data, so I don’t have the VRAM for it… even running through RAM, I don’t feel like downloading a lesser version with my slow-ish internet.

- Comment on Can we stop asking people who are on the brink of death and suffering greatly to sacrifice themselves for a bunch of able bodied people who refuse to stand up and sacrifice themselves for us? 1 month ago:
My more immediate thought is that most people couldn’t even get within 100 miles, and this says nothing of training/planning etc. “why doesn’t somebody do something” is probably just wish fulfillment by others who feel powerless to do anything about it.

According to the label? I just checked most of it (GV, McCormick) has no info whatsoever.
The exceptions are spice mixes (rotisserie chicken, old bay) and a single expired bottle of Durkee celery seed (maybe their other spices are like this, but afaik this is the only one we have).
Best I can do is try different spices when sautéing vegetables.

- Comment on What's the deal with male loneliness? 2 months ago:
In fact, those same pastimes are still available today.
That is glossing over a lot of context, a big one being that club membership is down (that’s a big point of Bowling Alone). I would not be surprised if many clubs relocated or shut down due to low membership, especially after raising membership fees. Or y’know that they were already a middleclass thing, thus canaries.
Pubs are also going to rely on prices, but the most social ones likely are accessible by free public transit or are located in a walkable/mixed-use area (particularly cities designed before+not-bulldozed-for cars).
I don’t think this is about awareness, especially when most people have less friends and less (or no) social engagement.
- Comment on What's the deal with male loneliness? 2 months ago:
See Bowling Alone.
Personally (and from a US shut-in perspective!) I’d take it further: the social contract is broken. When society has been molded to almost exclusively generate money, the closest to winning there is when you’re broke is trying to spend the least amount of money possible which surely will be solitaire confinement.
I don’t think there’s any easy fix, moving to a better area is an individual thing yet is also the core issue when it comes to transportation+rent+cost-of-living.

I am similar, though for me I’d say it’s more of a personality disorder (SzPD) which also makes socialization a dilemma (it’s a term). Though I live somewhere without much to do (+no public transportation), particularly because I have no interest in driving.
Though I lack skills/money, plus have untreated health issues and likely depression.
