The irony is that I’ve been antagonized for looking for other examples of AI that are not related to LLMs. As in “lol LLMs are AI!!!” and I have to reply with “yeah, I know that, but what other types are being used out there?” “just shut up with your anti-LLM stuff!”

Mindless negativity has arrived - at least in lemmy.world.
I have some tech-related subscriptions, so I check those out every now and then, but they have few new posts. So when I browse the Popular section, oy… corporations bad, climate change bad, war bad, economy bad. (Not saying it’s not true, I just want a place I can browse and escape all that for five minutes.)

Thank you for this. I watched the whole thing. It’s undeniable that Raygun can do a lot of things I can’t, but her performance paled in comparison with the other competitors. Three four times I got the goosebumps when the other competitors did truly amazing moves!

To me, bots are just noise if not summoned directly. Like when you’re having a conversation with your friend, then a loud roomba comes in and tries to clean the very space you’re sitting at.
“Hey bot, tell me facts about the article OP posted.”
“Sure! [etc, etc]”
Versus:
“HEY I KNOW YOU HAVEN’T ADDRESSED ME DIRECTLY BUT YOU SAID THE WORD ‘BUTT’ 17 TIMES TODAY!”

I agree with you in part. But I’m sure common folks are also a good portion of the donors.
Actually, let’s find out…
Ok. This is from 2020, so I’m not sure how good it reflects 2024:
www.opensecrets.org/…/demographics?id=N00036915
It says that women were the majority donating, and the biggest group donated between $1,000 and $3,000 - still a lot of money for many common folk, but that’s far from the “oligarchs” that you guys are talking about.

If I do more than a few hours gardening in summer I’m darker-skinned than her 😂
This is your privilege talking. Because if someone targets you for your skin color, all you need to do is stay in the shade for a couple of weeks. “Lol!”
But more to the point, you’re right. Unfortunately, American politicians have a history of not liking non-whites in positions of power. Under Obama, the GOP shut down the government twice, and the famous “you lie!” was uttered to him by a Republican during an official act - something that has never happened before. All because he was black.

I’ve lived in the U.S. for more than 20 years. I’m “Mexican from South America” like many Trumpists would call me.
It’s not as bad as it looks.
- Comment on What is the actual point of a bra? 3 months ago:
I’m okay with being distracted.
If a woman wants to wear a short, short skirt to work, or no bras, then so be it. I will probably stare when no one is looking, but I will for sure remain professional otherwise.
What’s the difference between this scenario and having a mesmerizing painting in the common area.
Shit, I’m objectifying women!!!
Let’s just say that a dude with a good pair of biceps would be equally distracting, and I wouldn’t have an issue with that.

People, it’s not this black and white either.
If you think issues in a relationship can be solved with logic/rationality only… good luck!

There are digital business card apps like cardee.me and hihello.
I’ve used both and they’re decent for networking in tech events.

This article is just an exaggeration.

But what would you have me do, stick my head in the sand and ignore what my government it’s doing? Ignore the growing control and power the rich capitalist ruling class have over us all year by year?
Believe it or not, yes. You can do this. You can still stay informed. Just don’t be online 7 days a week. Fight off that FOMO feeling.
- Comment on Don't you all get tired of the constant negativity? 5 months ago:
Nope. Not irony. It’s a community self-reflection meta post.
- Comment on Don't you all get tired of the constant negativity? 5 months ago:
I try to remind myself that social media, and yes, that includes Lemmy, does not reflect the rest of the aspects of my life - which is overall positive.
Subscribe to the communities you like, and stick to your subscriptions’ newsfeed. Much, much better experience.
- Comment on What is the absolute max level of ear protection you can get? 5 months ago:
Bro. It’s not “just more pressure.” It’s literally less pressure.
If there are water waves moving a boat up and down, and you actively apply some movement (ha! pressure!) to the water so you generate waves that cancel the existing ones so that the boat stands still, would you say “but you don’t understand, the is getting MORE PRESSURE!!! It’s being damaged!!!”? Of course not. It’s pretty much the same principle.
Get a highschool physics book, read the chapter about sound, and come back. Otherwise, just stop.
- Comment on What is the absolute max level of ear protection you can get? 5 months ago:
You’re so wrong about this. ANC pretty much eliminates pressure inside the ear canal. That’s how ANC works. No pressure waves, no sound, no damage.

- Comment on Is it weird that I enjoy imagining being a witness/victim of various tragedies? 5 months ago:
I don’t know, man. I love sci-fi and special effects, and I don’t think it was that bad.
To me, “the worst special effects I’ve seen” would be something like Birdemic, or that Lost In Space movie with Matt LeBlanc.
- Comment on Is it weird that I enjoy imagining being a witness/victim of various tragedies? 5 months ago:
Which special effects specifically?

I never understood people who spend $1000+ on a phone. But that’s besides the point, I know.
But back on topic. I understand. I guess it’s a matter of what mattes to you most: the money you paid for the phone, or an agent knowing your personal passwords and going through your personal stuff.
