- Comment on is "oh boy" considered a gendered term? 4 days ago:
I interpret it as being analogous to “oh wow”. Some people will say “oh boy” in place of “oh wow”, kind of similar to how my friends will say “I know right” but I and some other people will instead say “I know eh”.

- Comment on On a lighter note: Why do people still buy fast food? 1 week ago:
I buy fast food because I can get it quickly and because it tastes good to me. There’s nothing quite like getting a fresh serving of battered fries covered in sauce when you’re hungry and too tired to cook! 😋
- Comment on After incorporating geodes into my diet I've never felt better. 1 week ago:
You definitely shouldn’t take them for granite.

30°C is 303 Kelvin. Half of that is 151 Kelvin, which translates into a fairly mild -122°C!

Vapor pressure: “Am I a joke to you?”
Jokes aside, the boiling point exists because as the temperature of the water increases, so does its vapor pressure. At the boiling point, the vapor pressure becomes equal to the atmospheric pressure (1 standard atmosphere, or 760 torr). This is the reason why water boils at lower temperatures at higher altitudes!
- Comment on Anon loves sunny days 3 weeks ago:
I love sunny, snowy days. 20°C and above is just “hot” for me
- Comment on How do I get my clothes to smell like I just bought them at the store? 4 weeks ago:
Clothes are often treated with chemicals such as formaldehyde during manufacturing, which are responsible for that “new clothes smell”. They aren’t all that good for you though!
- Comment on If I'm stuck in the same area as someone who is clearly sick (runny nose, coughing etc) is there some combo of short/long breaths or nose/mouth breathing that's a better defense against catching it? 4 weeks ago:
I typically will just hold my breath (I can do that for several minutes thanks to all the freediving I used to do) and then when I’m clear of them I’ll start breathing again. If you absolutely cannot do that for whatever reason, your nose has these little hairs that will trap some of the germs like a filter. Shallow breathing or not wouldn’t matter.

Don’t forget the ancient Egyptian bowls with feet! Crazy how hybridization was back then.
- Comment on Does alcohol expire? Specifically whiskey? 5 weeks ago:
Sorry about your grandmother! Sending heartfelt condolences ❤️
As others have said, beverages such as whiskey are generally considered to be non-perishable due to their high alcohol content. They won’t “go bad” in the sense that they’ll be harmful to you if you drink them, but the flavor may change after a long time. If you have pleasant memories of your grandmother, I’d keep them in a sturdy box that’s for sentimental items!
- Comment on Do animals feel love and emotion? 1 month ago:
Absolutely! There are studies which show that cats develop affection for their owners, and have several ways of making that affection known. Dolphins are able to feel both love and also grief and there’s a growing amount of research which shows that birds are able to feel joy, love and grief. Many animals also mate for life!

Good question. The reason the sun is burning in space is because it is very spicy in space.

No, I would call that “preparing”. Cooking is the act of using heat to prepare food for consumption.

I love rice! I’ll eat it as a snack often, like I’ll just make some plain boiled rice (basmati and jasmine are my faves) at whatever hour and eat it at my desk. I particularly love the basmati variety because it has an almond-y flavour and taste.
