incensole acetate has ~1/10th the anti-anxiety potency of valium, which is pretty darn high if you think about it!
myrrh is also psychoactive, but it’s a straight up opoid agonist. it was commonly used as a pain reliever before the widespread use of opium poppies. in high-ish concentrations folks report general euphorua, dream-like states, and even vivid/lucid dreams! i can personally attest to the first two hahah

late reply but i ONLY JUST CONSIDERED, the cloth would most likely have some static charge which WOULD result in a literal “attraction force” towards the water!
physics is so stupid, i love it so much

i mean it’s literally why liquids wick into cloth
- Comment on It’s the little things 1 week ago:
the cloth attracts it because of the capillary action pulling water into the gaps therein, and capillary action relies on surface tension! i think without outside forces like suction, the liquid in this scenario would never flow against gravity.
i think hahah
- Comment on It’s the little things 1 week ago:
oils have low surface tension, i believe a true no-surface tension liquid is as impossible as a true frictionless surface.
i didn’t consider friction though! i think the rag would still dry out completely pretty quick, but you might have a few seconds while the water falls out depending on how tight the mesh is?
i dunno, this is a real whacky thing to think about!
- Comment on It’s the little things 1 week ago:
i think without surface tension it would also just fall out of the cloth as soon as you lift it, because nothing would wick against gravity. in fact of your floor is pourous at all, i reckon the water would just immediately all flow further down and you’d be left with a dry floor.

meanwhile i wish there was a slider that made the characters MORE chatty, the dynamic interactions are really charming to me! but i also specifically love how cliché they’re written, so can see how it’s not for everybody haha

JUST for hot deposit, yeh. the rest of the inventory/hotbar management always makes me wish i was playing something else.
the hotbar not being inventory space is fine, but tools disappearing because they’re in your hand is absurd. they really just added a “looking for the tv remote that i’m already holding” mechanic. the pinning system with filters is handy for food, but feels clunky outside that one usecase.
like they went with a realistic “the forest” style building system, and then the inventory management is the most videogamey shit in the world.
also the scroll wheel swapping hotbars by default is straight up whacky, i’ve heard the whole thing makes more sense on controller lmao
- Comment on Harris Yulin Gave 'Deep Space Nine' One of Its Greatest Performances 1 month ago:
ds9 is best trek imo. the double fake identity twist is just silly enough that it somehow feels conceivable, even with the cosmetic surgery angle. i don’t know that i’d take a plot like that seriously in anything other than a star trek story lmao

she could’ve been a side character for a full season. i’d even let-slide a romance plot, her and quark had great on-screen chemistry.

also you can etch those lil white squares surprisingly easily with commercially available glass etching creams, my mom used to fuck around with em a lot in like the 90’s i think.

maybe a difference in the actual composition of the grease? i was writing on polished stainless pots at below freezing temps, but i was ALSO using new-old-stock refills bc the current standard size is it’s own proprietary can of worms lol
- Comment on Pens in Space 3 months ago:
side note, mechanical grease pencils are literally some of the best goddamn marking tools ever invented by humans, and the fact that we’ve moved away from them as a standard in favor of sharpie-style disposible markers is APPALLING.
there’s myriad “industrial” markers you can buy, which are generally especially well suited to one specific inclement situation. low temp markers won’t freeze, but will often bleed and feather. oil-proof markers will write on a slippery surface, but will smear and take ages to dry proper (RIP lefties). paint markers can write on anything, but only as long as the surface doesn’t immediately destroy your nib and prevent future wicking.
grease pencils (quality ones at least) go down like a crayon, stick to ANYTHING, and generally won’t smear at all. obviously no one should be writing their thesis with one, but they can do pretty much everything we use permanent markers for. they’re also cheaper and produce far less waste.
as far as i can tell the biggest downside is there’s a smaller profit margin for the manufacturers.
