Now NSF funds all branches of science excluding defense and most medical. Those are DOD and NIH for the most part.

If this type of basic science research interests you, in the US there is a federal agency dedicated to this pursuit; the National Science Foundation (www.nsf.gov)
95% of its annual budget goes out the door in the form of research grants to colleges, small businesses and individuals. Most of the research has no immediate application but has lead to some very exciting discoveries. The biggest in the recent past was that orange donut picture of a black hole that was everywhere. Thank you for posting I am definitely going to spend 4 hours on this. ☺
If this is your cup of tea as well you might enjoy her review of a theme park that didn’t make it either.

I create a new alias account on my email server for each new account. That way when I am done with them I can just delete it and never get their spam ever.

At one of the places I worked as a manager I oversaw a staff of in-house techs that made desk-side calls when things needed done. After many complaints, I had to have a talk with one of my staff because he smelled and that I couldn’t have him come back to the office until he cleaned up. After that I had weekly check ins with him until the new hygiene regimen became routine.
That was one of the hardest conversations I have ever had and the look on his face killed me.

As much as I want to see this horrible man brought to justice there’s no way I’d want to sit on one of those juries with all of his unhinged supporters out there.

I enjoyed BG3 more than any game since Witcher: Wild Hunt. Do you think Divinity 2 would be for me? I am looking for a new long play game.

This movie is going to help rile up and further split a fragile country. I believe it will inspire bad ideas in the already mentally weak.
