blahaj local here, I believe that there is little to be gained from allowing continued linking to these walled gardens (especially since accessing anything on Twitter without an account is more of a hassle than it’s worth.) I think it would be good to cut off the Twitter links, possibly with the rare exception for archive pages deemed able to promote discussion well enough to be worth compromise?

Steam does this themselves by incentivizing votes with badges and profile exp, the latter of which is needed to increase your maximum amount of Steam friends. People vote for the rewards, and as such, so many people vote that you end up “rewarding the good games that everyone played rather than the masterpieces played by only a few.” like the article said.
