- Comment on Every support thread on Reddit is literally this now 5 days ago:
When Twitter went downhill, we got bluesky and mastodon. Bluesky works as a decent Twitter replacement and Mastodon is smaller and more fediverse-focused. Lemmy and Piefed are alternatives to Reddit but I wouldnt really say that Lemmy fully replaces Reddits functionality in terms of niche subs. That’s why I’ve always been in favor of explosive growth here with each Reddit exodus, to have a forum within an order of magnitude or two of the size of Reddit to properly become a replacement.

Is it unsafe to eat ozone, perhaps? Like if you had something really porous like a cake in there and all the air spaces became ozone, that couldn’t be safe to eat.
- Comment on Is it normal for young teenagers to snore ? 1 week ago:
This is like that doctor telling John Green “sneezing isn’t normal. I never sneeze.” Snoring is normal and probably good for you. When most people are dreaming deeply, they snore. It’s just how we’re built.

Get the cheapest vodka and a spray bottle, works great on all upholstery smells

Whatever it takes to get guys to wash their hands ii guess
- Comment on Are you so young that you have never been in a car with one of these? 1 week ago:
The comment got deleted after I upvoted it but now I’m curious if any modern cars, maybe in other countries besides the US have ashtrays included standard? They were saying they’d seen an Audi model that had one as late as 2017? Which might be true, I don’t get in Audis often but they always have a lot of doohickeys

I looked again, if it’s on there it’s very well hidden. I’m using the website btw, maybe the app has it more easy to access.

They probably have a method but I cant recommend using a match for ear hair. Made a cool sound though
- Comment on What is piefed? 2 weeks ago:
So I created an account over on piefed.social and was browsing by /all and saw some communities I have no interest in ever seeing. I navigate through to the community and there’s no “block community” function? How am I to browse by /all as is my wont, without seeing furry porn? Nothing wrong with it but it’s just not my jam.
Honestly /all is the best way to find new active communities to join and it’s worked here at Lemmy just fine. Or maybe I missed the button on piefed, or devs are adding it as you read this.

- Comment on How active is too active while being on lemmy? 3 weeks ago:
A lot of the Lemmy posts I see are from a few very active posters, and more is always welcome as long as it’s interesting stuff. I’m one of those people that wants Lemmy to be 10x it’s current size though, there are definitely the other kind here but yeah in my opinion push for exponential growth any way you can if you have the energy for it.

I’d be pretty impressed if salamanders readily incorporated environmental transposons into their genome. Don’t octopuses rewrite their genetics on the fly though? I think I remember reading something about that years ago

Can confirm rubbing alcohol can improve your experience with failing phone charge port. I got to the point with one where it wouldn’t charge unless I applied a minuscule amount of alcohol around the metal prong in the phone with a shaved down toothpick before plugging it in. This tip is mentioned exclusively for those trying to extend the life of an end-stage phone and I take no responsibility for any fires or harm to the phone.
That said, there were never any problems when I did it and it extended the phone’s life maybe 8 months, and after a few months it didn’t even need the alcohol. Maybe it improves conductivity or used the charger head to over time clean the phone port. This was a USB-micro charger because I like using 8 year old, $60 phones.

Late 70s and the first few 80s years is a stretch, that’s Xennials. Elder Millenials and Xennials have an uneasy truce but we know the difference

I had a couple sticks of the standardly creamy Cabot in the fridge and happily still cooking with it. Extra creamy just seemed excessive when I saw it in the store.

So a regular blender wasnt enough, hmmm. We need to get the NileRed of baking on this. I want video evidence now that you’ve given us the proof of concept.
