I’m pretty sure the downvotes are just men who don’t know any better (or less likely, users who passively despise tiktok). It wasn’t inflammatory or offensive, and it’s a coherent and brief video. Thanks for sharing.

Here’s the thing. You’re very right, it’s not deep at all. Metaphors, similies, analogies, hyperboles, implications, etc. are all very normal parts of human speech, and this meme is pretty surface level in its requirement to use these things.
However, something has dawned on me, and I feel it necessary to ask you: are you perhaps on the spectrum? We sometimes have difficulties not taking everything literally, and this causes a communication gap. If this is the case, I will be completely and totally clear for you.
We are not literally talking about a literal bear vs a literal man. This is in fact a real metaphor for “danger vs danger”. The literal interpretation is “men can be scary to many women”. Going further, respond to this point and don’t fixate on the hypothetical bear.
- Comment on It is apparently controversial 5 months ago:
You didn’t read his response correctly, and your response comes off as nonsense because of this. Replace black with white, and the comparison is more accurate. Understand the dynamics between oppressor and the oppressed, and the different ways similar rhetorics are used to muddy the waters to create disingenuous conversations. “It’s sexist because women are saying men are scary” is a bad take.

It’s pretty insane just how many men can’t wrap their heads around something this simple. Goes to show how deep the patriarchy programming goes.

I was made aware that my chewing is too loud. I no longer enjoy eating food around people because I’m too self-conscious about the noise. It’s a stupid thing to care about, and I feel stupid for letting it bother me. I wish “live and let live” was easier.

Yes, I’ve heard of faith before. Philosophically riveting stuff, I’m sure.
I’m simply here to say you might try being less intellectually hostile. This extends beyond your interaction here. I agree with your sentiment, but you don’t exactly make people want to meet you where you stand. There is no “them” for you to fight. It’s just us.
- Comment on CFCs 8 months ago:
You’re not really making any meaningful points for me to interact with, and as such I have nothing in myself to defend. You seem to just be really cranky and hostile.
That’s where your downvotes are coming from, by the way. You’re not appealing to reason; you’re more just being kind of a dick.

Would be cool if we had a universal rating system like yelp reviews, but for politicians. Ted Cruz sitting at a galactic 1.4 stars, Trump rocking 0.9 stars, Obama with like a 3.5, and then a ton of third party candidates with 4 or 5 stars, all with relevant written reviews. Economy’s shit? You voted in a 1-star fascist, so of course you got 1-star quality. Alabama became the second most educated state in the country? Those 5-stars are absolutely killing it. Keep it up Alabama. Feel like nothing’s getting done in your home state? Check those reviews, boot out the 3-stars and below. They’re not taking their job seriously enough. Remember to take the time to review your senator during midterms!

I think the hate comes from an overall immaturity (I don’t mean this as an insult) in the audience. Forrest Gump is a really solid family movie because its characters are thoughtful and offer many things for a viewer to latch onto. As a child, I remember not really caring for Jenny’s behavior. It didn’t make sense to me, I hadn’t yet picked up on the sexual abuse from her father, her scenes were too sporadic for me to keep up with her character arc enough to care, etc. But I adored Forrest and loved watching him stumble his way into success. That was 20 years ago, and I’ve come to appreciate Jenny’s character for how much depth she holds. When I rewatch the movie, it’s because her story hits an emotional resonance with me. All that’s changed for me is I’ve learned to care more about a life like hers.
I think it takes a certain amount of emotional intelligence to appreciate her character, and not everyone is there.
