Now this is the niche content that makes Lemmy great. I’ve never really dabbled in multiplayer a lot as even though I have hundreds of hours, I never actually finished the whole thing, opting to start over every time I picked it back up.
Just wanted to thank you for your post, it was fun to read

Dangerous driving, repeated DUIs, ecological damage by corporations, stuff like that

Of course I’m being subjective and anecdotal here, but there could be a lot more in prison if they wanted to do their actual job.

- Comment on Goat Simulator Remastered just looks like how I remember Goat Simulator looking 1 month ago:
while the trailer below is proof positive that the remaster does indeed look newer and shinier, in the moment I couldn’t shake the idea from my memory banks that this was just how Goat Sim always looked.
Imo they have nailed it, then. Metroid Prime Remastered also looks as good as I remember that game looking, but when you put them next to each other it’s quite a big difference.

I would never be able to play a game like this but watching people play it has been a blast. Hope it does the first one justice

Had the pleasure of playing an early version last year, very cool to see how much of it has “settled” and the direction is crystal clear now. Love the little mechanics

I’m with you but I wouldn’t trust search results that point me to a 3rd party tool to do whatever I need to do. Unless the link in question is actually well known and I’ve just been living under a rock, then don’t mind me

Ah I should have checked that, yeah. That will bump up the average by quite a bit. Thanks for the logic to my conspiracies, I should have known better

It’s only 30 people that have pledged the $14,670. This almost averages to $500 per backer, which is a lot higher than the normal average.
My theory? They are arranging the pledges themselves to make it look like they are desired.

Why is this a news article? It’s a reddit post. And while I like to take things at face value, believing a reddit post is another level of gullible.

I don’t think so, the only thing cheaper than the Steam Deck is a Nintendo Switch, but that’s a whole different machine and also probably doesn’t support it

- Comment on Instagram app no longer lets you post stories without allowing camera and mic access on ios 2 months ago:
In this case by hitting create post, it triggers the permissions for mic/camera because it tries to activate them.
As to why, it’s probably because they want you to create videos so they default to that when putting the create post option. And then in there, you can go for a text post instead. But I don’t use Instagram so I don’t know if anyone who does can confirm that.

- Comment on Developers reportedly told not to expect Switch 2 to launch before April 2025 [VGC] 3 months ago:
Nintendo said they will announce something this fiscal year, that’s it. No word about launch.
The rest are just rumours and just a bunch of dudebro’s who replaced 2023 with 2024, and now have to scribble in 2025 pretending they never said they were 99% sure it was releasing earlier.

Ohh! As a European I do know the difference between those two types. It just didn’t click that they got it wrong, I thought they had the feathers wrong (like part of the wrong native American tribe or something)

As a European I will admit I have no idea what’s “wrong” with the picture. Other than it just looking like a mouthpiece for people instead of actually reporting things
- Comment on "Age of Mythology: Retold is going to be the most approachable game we have ever built." World's Edge developers talk rebuilding a strategy classic for Xbox and PC. 3 months ago:
It’s a simpler game for sure. There were only 4 civilizations (Norse, Egyptian, Greek, Atlantian) and they were all very different from one another compared to AoE. Each civilization had multiple deities to choose from for some more specific buffs and abilities. Every type had unique mythical units as well, and these units are quite large so maps felt a bit smaller in comparison. Overall the maps were smaller than AoE anyway, but not in a bad way.
Then instead of stone there was favor, a resource like the test acquired by putting townies at your temple to pray. All in all it was pretty similar to AoE but it felt a lot less serious. I played a lot at LAN parties and we always had a blast.

Update: Ignore the bit where I imply that you can’t access the vanilla settings once the mod is installed. I was just being a (wildly charismatic, dashing) idiot.
It always irks me when people can’t live up to an (honest) mistake without tooting their own horn.
Do others find it funny or endearing? I’m genuinely curious, as just owning up to it without the bravado would make more sense to me.
- Comment on [deleted] 3 months ago:
If done well it’s called constructive feedback, not bad communication.
The problem is that many folks feel like it’s the only feedback tool in the toolbox, and the praises can seem less sincere over time, as some managers think they need to find something positive every single time. This can make it less efficient or sincere, so it’s good to have some variety.
- Comment on [deleted] 3 months ago:
I know this isn’t what you want to hear, but they are basically saying that you wouldn’t be a good fit with the team.
Now as for the exact reasoning they will probably not tell you, as ambiguous rejections are easier to manage. But to me that sounds like they think you need guidance / support that they cannot offer (read: don’t have the budget for).
Not saying I agree with any of it, mind you. Just giving my interpretation

The parent literally asked whether their kid was in trouble. Wouldn’t it be disingenuous to not answer truthfully (at the caveat that it was actually the truth)?
I saw it more as a way to resolve it peacefully without getting to the stuff nobody likes
