I wouldn’t call it ruined. I rather like knowing how many “edgy” people there are
- Comment on Is there any real physical proof that Jesus christ ever existed? 1 week ago:
Good thing back in the day there were probably very few cult leaders…
Does anyone wonder about how the story of Jesus being plagiarized from the Egyptian myth of Horus affects the narrative about the Jesus that supposedly lived and died a century earlier? You know the one that happened to have incredibly important political value for the established leaders of the time?
No? Me either. Praise Horus!

Ngl, I did not actually expand the picture to see the caption. I just saw the main image about knowledge. Post-docs absolutely get fucked and I do feel bad for them.
I quit one year into my PhD because I was miserable in grad school. I have to assume most post-docs have some crazy resilience or some kind of mental issue/trauma that keeps them going and going. I guess that’s probably true for most people but post-docs do some seriously hard mental work and basically get shafted the entire time (at least in the US).

Unpopular opinion (apparently): I value the overpriced, yet imo absolutely priceless, education I received when I was in college/at a university.
It’s honestly unbelievable (to me) how much people in the US look down on learning and getting an education

Have you tried not being insufferable? I highly recommend working on your ability to communicate with others so people don’t think you’re just trying to be a (usually fake) know-it-all that doesn’t actually know anything but really just wants attention

It’s wild that this isn’t common knowledge …and that you commented with such confidence about it

Sure but the house was clearly divided. That’s data that conflicts with your main premise, no?

Does this recent vote affect your opinion at all?
- Comment on The ad in the middle of this article about conspiracy theories 1 month ago:
That’s freakin awesome! I absolutely love that idea/solution. Is it kinda hot in here? Why’m I all moist?
Seriously tho, is there any downside? Also, I’m still not sure I understand the point of running the ad in the first place. Why run a shitty ad that costs you money? Is the idea to get people to follow that other conspiracy site more regularly?

With the state of free to play games, looking at you, the finals, I can’t justify buying games I’ll never even have time to play
…which is fine. The finals is great!

That’s a totally valid point. I absolutely hate updates in general. It’s one of those double edged swords. I’ve been trying to get used to the idea, as to not lose my mind in the modern world. Not easy
That said, I like the idea of (sort of) the way some software companies offer standalone versions alongside their subscription plans. If you don’t want updates just buy the full software (or pirate it of course).
And I have to say, I’m an absolute fan of free to play games - even if I don’t necessarily play many. I just think we need to teach people, parents specifically, about how microtransactions work and can add up.

I love games that get updated and change as the years go by! I think it’s one of the most incredible things I’ve seen in gaming

I was just dealing with this infuriating issue as well! Besides marking it spam, and giving the app a bad review, I was able to wvwbtuyfibd a setting near my email address/contact info that said something along the lines of don’t email me anything - it’s really not that obvious (I remember it was just text that was underlined).
Good luck finding it! Let me know if you don’t

Uh ok. You don’t have to like it, dude 😅
Let me know what game you’re currently enjoying, so I can shit all over it, if that’s your thing

Y’all gotta play The Finals. It’s so much fuckin fun. I’d honestly been pretty bored with games until recently when it was released

Lemmy has more niche users (read: geeks/nerds) on one site than I’ve ever experienced.
It’s awesome, but man, I feel so out of my element. I thought I was a nerd on reddit but on lemmy I have like no idea what half of the users are talking about or consider normal. It’s legit fascinating, tbh. I really wish it was possible to see the demographics of users here

My reaction was, instead of feeling hopeless, I’ve started to call for abolishing the Second Amendment. I’m done trying to compromise with people that care more about guns than children.
