Majority of Americans reject Trump too but you don’t see Iran bombing America for it
- Comment on Albanese government rejects all UN recommendations on improving LGBTQIA+ rights 4 days ago:
Now we’re in opinion territory. Pull a move like this and the upcoming one nation federal government will absolutely fuck the entire country on issues like abortion

See the other comment regarding federal overrides of state responsibility

You’re stretching on what is federal vs state here and you know it. See other comment regarding federal overrides. This isn’t a good faith argument
- Comment on Albanese government rejects all UN recommendations on improving LGBTQIA+ rights 1 week ago:
we should undermine the democratic process and state government powers because I don’t like it when the state government doesn’t lean the way I personally want
A very dangerous road to walk
I never thought I’d be defending the coalition but imagine if the coalition federal government (who historically avoid/prevent federal overrides) did this for issues like abortion
- Comment on Albanese government rejects all UN recommendations on improving LGBTQIA+ rights 1 week ago:
Of course the federal government would reject the recommendations when they’re almost entirely state government responsibilities

The only constitutional protection we have here is political speech

Watch this be carefully crafted to prevent criticism of Israel

There is literally no tax in NZ on selling shares in private companies.

Increasing CGT to one of the most expensive in the world doesn’t need a citation… Engage in some basic thought.
You create a business, take on massive risks, fund it yourself even, then when you go to sell you’re looking at essentially 100% capital gain
That’s not extremely attractive. Why not create the business in Nev Zealand where that would incur 0% tax, because they don’t have CGT?
- Comment on Polling suggests one nation preferred over labor, negative perceptions and low awareness of budget blamed. 5 weeks ago:
It is bad, the changes discourage investment in creating new businesses in Australia. It’s going to screw the country in the long term

One Nation? No thanks
- Comment on Polling suggests one nation preferred over labor, negative perceptions and low awareness of budget blamed. 5 weeks ago:
It’s as if Labor designed a budget to turbocharge more anti-establishment sentiment and pump up One Nation’s tyres.

How can you possibly ban a “group” under any name they “reform” under? Is this a preemptive ban on any groups that could be anti Israel?

Lemmy.ml is super commie and Nazis are anti commie, I don’t understand how this is a coherent line of thinking
- Comment on Are users who openly parrot literal Nazi talking points allowed here? 3 months ago:
The “Nazi talking points” that aren’t mentioned could be a bait, and be something as simple as anti communism or economic reforms that stimulate production through public works (e.g. the autobahn)
They may not be the things the Nazis were hated for…

Who demanded the govt make new laws? I don’t know a single person who demanded such a thing, nor anyone who actually supports them after reading how incredibly vague and severe the legislation is

Has anyone else read the legislated changes? They are shocking and apply so very broadly that simply criticising groups that fund politicians as an example would likely end up as criminal hate speech

I haven’t seen any cutout for small sites, you have to comply if meeting the criteria. You’d just be breaking the law and hoping the govt doesn’t come knocking

Nailed it
They could just release some tools to parents to monitor/block sites but that would be too logical
