But now Steam is the last man standing between us and corporate greed.
Man how quickly people forget what things were like before the lawsuits forced valve to make steam more consumer friendly and regulatory abiding…

I give exactly zero fucks about any of this until they show prices.
- Comment on Steam Hardware [new Steam Controller, Steam Machine, and VR headset Steam Frame, coming in 2026] 1 day ago:
because most people got exposed to steam on HL2’s launch. Where they bought the physical game, came home, installed it off like 5 CDs… then had to run steam to decrypt it and download more files because the fucking install was encrypted, and the goddamn fucking decryption took like 8 hours if you didnt have the worlds greatest computer.
Nope, I’m still totally not salty about not being able to play the game I fucking bought until the day after cause bullshit encryption fuckery, why would you ever think that.
I still have that goddamn box somewhere… i need to dig it up and see what release retail HL2 is like compared to HL2 you’d downlaod today from steam…

- Comment on Game developers desperate for you to join their Discord "server" 4 weeks ago:
enjoy it. its a great platform to communicate with your friends in game on.
but its not a place for tech support, breaking announcements, etc etc etc
- Comment on Game developers desperate for you to join their Discord "server" 4 weeks ago:
discord is a communication platform for friends to game on. nothing more, nothing less.
It should not be an information archive.
It should not be a source of tech support.
It shouldnt be a source of important news/announcements.
All that shit should be on your fucking website, where it can be indexed, archived, and searched for.
Cause discord isolates information in such a way that you will never be able to find out unless you actively use discord, actively hunt down the right discord channel, and properly luck into finding the information.
verses just going to a web browser and typing " [game name] [bug description]" and likely getting the solution, or at least relevant information, in the first 3 returns.
Discord holds information hostage, and kills it should a channel shut down/delete, losing it forever… and anyone that has played older games know that some of that information and community fixing is essential, even a decade+ later.

- Comment on 9 months after its 1.0 launch flopped, an indie dev just learned that Steam never emailed the 130,000 people who wishlisted its game 1 month ago:
yeah yeah, and if any other company had done this same thing everyone would be screaming about them just covering their ass and it doesnt change how they fucked over the dev and blah blah blah.
but Valve always gets the free pass, and people always conveniently forget that all the pro-consumer things we have like refunds are the results of lawsuits brought on by states, or the threat of regulator intervention.
Tired of this fanboy cultist shit that always gets formed around everything and anything.
Valve doesnt care about you. its not gonna take you to prom. if it thought it could get away with it, it’d fuck you 10 ways from sunday.
This isnt valve been the consumer champion , or the “goat”. its valve getting a head of a problem to control the narrative.

- Comment on what are the grievances with the "male loneliness epidemic"? 2 months ago:
Its the classic negative feedback loop.
All you hear about is bad people, doing bad things, because normal, sane, respectful, law abiding people don’t make news because who is going to make headlines like “NORMAL PERSON RESPECTS OPINION AND DOESNT HAVE A TANTRUM OVER BEING DISAGREED WITH”
So people with low critical thinking skills and an aversion to regular thinking just leap to “ALL X ARE BAD, NO EXCEPTIONS”

“MEN IN THE PAST DID BAD, SO ALL MEN FOREVER GUILTY”
What a well reasoned argument.
- Comment on Exposing the billion dollar secret most VPN companies don't want you to know 2 months ago:
the entire world didnt have to adapt to them, the EU has no regulatory power over websites operated outside the EU, but most websites just simply found it easier to do so, because of the fear that not doing so might turn visitors away, and to sites that do comply.
Just like how USB-C has become the universal charger connector for phones… its not because the EU demanded it for the world, they just demanded it for their markets, and rather than create phones with USB-C for the EuroZone, and other phones for a different charger for the rest of the world… they just push out USB-C for everything everywhere as a cost savings (for them, compared to having to run a second line for a different charger)
- Comment on Game prices should have increased with every new generation, former PlayStation US boss says 2 months ago:
You don’t consider reviews influencers because you are a sane person with two functioning neurons to rub together.
- Comment on Game prices should have increased with every new generation, former PlayStation US boss says 2 months ago:
You DO realize the entire point of a review is to influence others, right?
No, the entire point of a review is to inform others.
But keep trying. I’m sure you’ll get it one day.
- Comment on Game prices should have increased with every new generation, former PlayStation US boss says 2 months ago:
Cant even rely on reviews anymore… I forget what game it was, but there was a game had a massive pay to win scheme in the game… that was only added on launch day, so the reviewers copies didnt have it… So they gave glowing reviews on the gameplay, without the game having the pay to win store and all the gameplay nerfs that encourage using it.
- Comment on 2 months ago:
subscribing to humble monthly is also a good way to amass games on the cheap. not as cheap as free, of course, but still better than most sales.
- Comment on 2 months ago:
Everyone is.
I don’t buy new releases anymore.
Why?
Cause the prices are getting stupid. Cause its all digital downloads with no physical product. Cause my “ownership” can be revoked at any time by the platforms whims or the platforms shutdown.
What happened to digital downloads being cheaper, anyway? Thats the promise we were sold 10+ years ago. That by sacrificing physical products, Publishers/Devs wouldnt have to pay for printing, manufacturing, shipping, storage, etc, so they’d be able to sell AAA new releases for 30 dollars, and Pub/Dev would still make more money.
And now we’re supposed to be paying 60, 70, 80 dollars or more, for these digital download games… that we don’t even own?
Fuck that. Amazing how the only promise fulfilled on moving to digital download was that pubs/devs would get more money… and they get that by skyrocketing the costs, not because of the sacrifices we made to give up boxes, disks, manuals, and ownership/

yep, if showers smell like shit, its cause theres shit somewhere.
- Comment on hygiene 3 months ago:
There are an awful lot of men that are so insecure and terrified that they think touching their own ass to wipe/wash it makes them gay… So they don’t wipe/wash their ass at all.
And thats why they, the things they touch, and the areas they congregate, always smell like shit.
It smells like shit, because it IS shit.
