- Comment on What do people (as in, IRL) actually think of the [alleged] perpetrator involved in the NYC shooting? 1 week ago:
A person killing another person. People will mourn him. I guarantee someone is crying over this, a child, a parent, a lover. If you can’t see that side of it at all you need to take a step back and think about your humanity.
But as a system… It’s a different story. Sometimes things have to break before change happens, and afterward, people are likely to just think about it in terms of a beneficial change, not the people who didn’t survive the conflict.
- Comment on What do people (as in, IRL) actually think of the [alleged] perpetrator involved in the NYC shooting? 1 week ago:
If you look at it at the individual level, of course it’s a tragedy.
At the systematic level though, big change historically almost always includes death, and at the end people everywhere celebrate the successful revolution with very little thought to those sacrificed to get it.
- Comment on what's the best way to react if a guy stares at you like he wants to have sex with you when you're doing yoga? 3 weeks ago:
I’ll just add, next time, find a group of women and attach yourself to them as soon as you feel unsafe. If this was a predator you are just doing him a favor by isolating yourself and leaving a public area. You want to be sure you are decreasing your anonymity, not increasing it.

And now Paramount+. Even now their strategy seems to be to fill it with Star Trek and wait for the cash to roll in.
- Comment on Star Trek: Section 31 to Premiere January 24 2 months ago:
I just watched a fascinating documentary on Star Trek and they talked about how paramount kept trying to launch their own network on the back of Star Trek as it’s cash cow and how they kept failing because it was all they had on it and not enough viewers.
Problem solved by making all the different kinds of shows into Star Trek, I guess, but how are they going to grow a fan base if it’s all locked behind a paywall that only people who already love it will pay to get through?
- Comment on How come people who are against abortion are in favor of the death penalty? Kind of seems like a contradicition/ 2 months ago:
I always loved the “do uncontacted remote tribes that haven’t heard of God or Jesus go to heaven?” question. So far everyone has answered yes. And then you realize that Christians could save everyone, everywhere, forever, just by destroying all their literature, not teaching religion, and letting it die with them. One sacrificial generation and everyone is saved forever.
But they won’t do it because of greed and pride, the core aspects of their belief system.

More like being responsible with guns so people don’t argue we can’t afford to leave the second amendment unrestrained.
- Comment on Out of curiosity if a woman is in control of her own body. If the SCOTUS did not reverse Roe than why can't a woman in control become a prostitue? 3 months ago:
While Roe v Wade may have been legally about privacy, abortion rights are also absolutely a body autonomy issue ideologically.

Also, go to council meetings for your city and county whenever you can. Talk to your party about becoming a precinct committee officer, find out what local elected positions exist and run for office. We need people who aren’t greedy fucks running for office.

I wish I had good advice for how to connect with people after the school years, that’s just difficult.
- Comment on Is my girlfriend gaslighting me? 5 months ago:
If there is one lesson I could teach my younger self, it would be to have several low commitment relationships while I was younger to learn what is “normal”. Once you start making murder pacts, it’s usually too late.

- Comment on What do I need to trouble shoot second hand desktop computer? And how? 6 months ago:
There’s usually a four prong power connector on the top left corner of the motherboard. I always forget that one, nothing works without it plugged in too.
- Comment on Did Obama Becoming President Make People Hide Their Racism? 7 months ago:
You aren’t imagining things. We take social cues from others. If you have friends who are weird, you will feel more free to be weird. If politicians have to hide their racism to work with someone above them, others will follow suit. If they don’t have to hide it… same.
- Comment on I don't really know how to deal with coworkers who emotionally dump their issues on me 7 months ago:
A lot of men are desperate to connect with other people and for validation.
- Comment on How do you know if you have a Habit? 8 months ago:
There’s a route you take when you walk to the front door, there’s a hand you open it with, there’s a way you shift your weight as you open it. Yes, usually going to the pastry shop on the weekend can be a habit too, but there really are tons your never think about.
When someone calls your name, do you look or not? Fast or slow? When someone tells you their name do you repeat it to yourself in your head? Any of these things you do consistently without thinking are habits, and anything you do consistently through mental effort can be too, even if they aren’t automatic.

- Comment on How do you refer to the lgbtq+ "community" least excludingly? 10 months ago:
I’ve always thought we should use “plus” as in the + at the end of lgbt. It’s short, easy, all inclusive and has a built in positive association.
- Comment on Kentucky Republican wants to lower the legal age someone can own, conceal carry guns 11 months ago:
In all seriousness, there are some 30 year olds I don’t think are adults yet. Why is it such a weird idea that people are ready for different levels of responsibility at different times? Being able to drink doesn’t make your an adult, being able to carry a gun doesn’t either. Neither does driving. They don’t all need to "unlock"at the same time like a video game or something.
- Comment on how can I develop a thick skin? 11 months ago:
Frustration is usually the difference between what we expected or wanted and what we got. Patience is learning to let go of what we expected and accept what is.
If you can stop seeing this as something wasted and start seeing it as just a different circumstance, it may help you get past your emotions and start focusing on what to do next.

- Comment on Is the right to abortion a "negative right" or a "positive right"? 1 year ago:
For me it’s a basic question of who gets to make your medical decisions, you, or someone else.
It isn’t a person yet it’s not a baby and it is “human” only by DNA. At that point it is indistinguishable from an embryo of a dolphin or other mammal. It can’t even think yet, but for some reason people think of is special enough to be worth denying you your body autonomy.
