Food gives you energy after your body process it.

If you want quick energy take a sugary snack, but don’t expect it to last.

If you want energy for the day take a full meal, but then you need some chilling time for your body to digest.

Such are the trades of life my friend.

So trail mixes are kinda based around this IIRC, the nuts get processed slower for longer energy and the sugary bits (raisins n such) are fast energy for the now. So when hiking or doing such activities you can boost your sugar levels immediately as well as have them maintain as the foods are processed.

A full meal mixed with sugar is fast food so it would be like after eating mcdonalds
