I am rewatching Naruto for the third time. Naruto Shippuuden, I have watched once. Are there any canonical references to what Orochimaru is? As is, what kind of being? I have never read the manga, except for a few random volumes, so if you know something that the manga reveals that the anime does not, feel free to spoil! 😊🐍

He’s human.

But basically a “crazy scientist” that has no problem playing around with genetics, corpses, hybridization and whatever else he thinks might prove useful.

He also uses the knowledge has gained on himself, hebce why he’s become a bit of “creature”.

But he did start off a normal human.

Thanks! Do you have any references/sources on that? It’s well known that he would do anything - including playing with human lives - in his pursuit for eternal life and the acquisition of all techniques in existence. But I have never heard about that endeavor being the reason he got those snake eyes and other… Attributes xD

He’s already modified his body extensively to extend his life.

He is the same age as Jiraya and Tsunade.
