  Every disaster, every pandemic, every flood, every earthquake response is rooted in bad and opportunistic politics. In the same way Trump and MAGA America turned Covid into a libtard issue for political gain, the Regan Administration turned AIDS into an indictment of homosexuals for political gain.

  There was no large very powerful corporate interest protecting gay rights, while there was a very large and powerful corporate interest protecting the world’s blood supplies.

  That is why Ryan White was such a big eye opener for the world and later Princess Di hugging a kid with aids.

  Others have answered, but you reminded me of some disturbing audio that I had heard.

  It’s audio from Reagan’s white house press conferences when a reporter asked for comments about the growing AIDS crisis. It’s disturbing because it shows how casually people joked about gay men dying.

  It’s worth listening to. It both shows how far we’ve come and also shows how important it is to not lose any ground in the fight to protect marginalized groups.
