Is there a fediverse service that access most fediverse networks?

As you can see, I'm on mbin, originally because it has the goal of being a network that could be used to access a number of other networks - definitely Lemmy, and Mastodon was promised at some point but I don't think that ever happened - and development doesn't seem to be going further.

So I'm curious - is there a "do-it-all" network? The basic idea is: when I scroll through my feed, I not only see content from Lemmy, but also from Mastodon, Piefed, Peertube, Pixelfed, etc, and can also comment on or create content there. Is that something that exists or is that a pipe dream at the moment? (Or would that not even be possible due to some technical limitation?)

In theory, it’s perfect, and just what I think the fediverse should be, but it’s terrible to run as an admin.

    Yeah. It feels like software from a previous generation that has cool functionality, but just doesn’t have the usability it needs to be the center of a daily fediverse experience

  True. But it’s not quite comfortable to use. And it lacks good mobile apps. I guess, there only are Raccoon and FediLab, but both have serious UX problems.

    They’re also front ends. They don’t give you a single universal fediverse account that crosses fediverse platforms

I see content from Lemmy, Mastodon, Piefed, and Peertube from the people/communites I follow from my Mbin. Maybe you need to try to search for more people/communities?

  Ah OK, but it seems like you have to follow them first? I'm kind of looking for it in a general feed. Or am I maybe doing something wrong?

    If you go to the all microblogs feed you can see all the microblogs federated to your instance. Alternatively you can use the combined feed and it will have both threads and microblogs mixed together however you may have to scroll a while or sort by new to see microblogs.
    
    This is due to the difference in how users interact with the two forms of content and thus how they are ranked by the sorting algorithms. Threads will typically get more interaction with votes and comments than microblogs will because they are strutured more for discussion whereas with microblogs people tend to post more but each individual post gets less interaction and thus they get pushed down with the sorting methods used by lemmy/piefed/mbin.
    
    Mastodon uses a chronological sort so if you do want to see more microblogs it would probably be easiest to copy that and sort by new. I'm starting to think the only way to get a good mix between the two types of post is to have custom client side algorithms but that can get kinda complicated so no one is really doing it.

Recently I added the functionality to follow other people to PieFed (not just join communities, as before). This brings Mastodon content into the main feed mixed in with content from Lemmy.

It’s still a work in progress but I’m aiming to create what you’re asking for here.

    There was some drama recently relating to hism deciding to make instance block content creators from engaging too much. Probably related to that.

  No, accessing content is directly what I'm looking for. I would specifically like to avoid having multiple accounts if possible. I'll have to check it out.

I started at kbin and it having more integration is one of the reasons I did. If I was in the group who made the fediverse with my 20/20 hidnsite. I would have pressed for a user focused thing. Have light servers that do the user accounts and config for many services. Hopefully this would make it even easier for somone to self host their user config. then have the various services and just do something like saml and don’t even copy over the data. Make communities back upable just like user config and federation would be more of a shared backup thing if anything although user servers would get updates on whats on the fediverse. something like that. then I would mention with my foreknowldge how trust cafe does the rank everything thing.

This is something that I still don’t get. Most info says it doesn’t matter what instanc you joined but I never liked the content in my home instance.

The advice is always that you can move instances. So I moved to this one where I followed a lot of the content. But there is no built in way to port over the content you follow. So I had to use a script I found on GirHub.

Then I got Mastadon to see what was going on there. I realised soon that that the content I was following on mastason was the same as Lemmey.

Now moving to PieFed (were I’ll still see the same content) as it has better cross posting visibility.

At least this is what i understand.

So then what would I see different on Mbin, or how I supposed to use Masterson different to Lemmy.

*note that see the same content dosnt apply to whatever instances have been defederared (in either direction) from your home.
