- Comment on Will I ever be seen as truly British? 1 week ago:
You might feel more comfortable in a larger city. In London every person you meet has a different accent.

FYI the german word for "emotion triggered by a combination of sad, funny and stupid dystopia" is "Traludystopieunglücklichkomik".
ChatGPT told me.

There is a book "From Mondragon to America" which goes into excruciating detail about how it all works. It's not just a few factories there are credit unions, food coops and more all doing business together.

- Comment on Am I the only one who's "shorts" feed is all basically softcore porn? 5 weeks ago:
My facebook reels are worse than that - endless girls shaken their boobs and ass at me. Most of them look extremely fake and enhanced with AI to make everything bigger. Often there will be a split second scene in the clip (too short to be caught be the censorship system?) of something pornographic. Seems like most of the girls have an Onlyfans.
I don't watch porn or browse thirst traps on instagram or anything. It's nuts.

Piefed includes a piped.video link on every youtube post.
For example, try this one: https://piefed.social/post/83825
- Comment on if the bird flu started spreading between humans, how long would you need to stay quarantined before it was safe to come out?? 1 month ago:
Vaccine development would probably be quicker than the ones made for Covid as we already have vaccines for other strains of flu. Maybe up to a year?
- Comment on 😠Meta just showed off Threads’ fediverse integration for the very first time😠 1 month ago:
It's quite disarming, isn't it?
But the nice happy guys coding the thing now are not the ones who are going to make the decisions later which will bring about the extend + extinguish phases, the ads, the crypto or whatever form the enshittification takes.
- Comment on Should Caddy and Traefik Replace Certbot? 2 months ago:
They both implement the ACME protocol internally, allowing them to integrate with services like Let’s Encrypt to automate regularly obtaining the certificates needed to offer HTTPS.
I did not realise this. Very nice, I'll be trying Caddy on my next server!

Get a free account from https://www.eternal-september.org/.
Then in Thunderbird , "Add a newsgroup account" with your login details from eternal september.
Find some groups to subscribe to. Try comp.lang.python for example. Once you subscribe you can see the posts inside it.
You'll probably see lots of spam. To remove the spam you need to use Thunderbirds Message Filters functionality - remove all messages where their Message-ID header contains "googlegroups".
- Comment on About Kbin - why don't Kbin instances automatically grab updates if a magazine from another instance is out-of-date? 3 months ago:
There is no good reason for it. Just a choice by the coder of kbin.
PieFed retrieves the last 50 posts when a magazine/community is added for the first time. It only takes a few seconds because all 50 posts can be retrieved at once by making a GET request to the community outbox.

Admitting that your tech requires fusion power is admitting that it is a fantasy.
- Comment on Can I filter X-Day old accounts as they're likely bots or trolls? 3 months ago:
That platform you're testing also has a little icon next to accounts that are less than a week old. ;-)
