I don’t have an “end goal” as far as “AI” is concerned.
I do have a short-term goal of contributing to the establishment of a humanity that’s at least smart enough to grasp the fundamental and unresolvable differences between language modeling and reasoning, but I have no particular hope even of that.
Right now using AI is being marketed as this flashy futuristic technology that can be used for EVERYTHING.
In reality it’s like using a helicopter to cross the street. Sure it will get you there quickly, and it looks and sounds all futuristic and cutting edge. But really it’s incredibly expensive, wasteful and unecessary for many many things. And now the street below has more wind, dust, noise and more chaos than ever before. But invest! Helicopters are the future! Why even learn to walk?
AI has uses, but for most it is seen as an immature technology that never met the marketing hype. Precious resources are going into data centers few want, to power AI that few want to pay to use, to abuse and pollute things they use and care about.

Well, I don’t ever see total elimination of AI working on any timeline of reality, so does that apply to Nazis too?

Yes it does, it shows that you have no motivation.
Also it’s easier to get rid of AIs (in the current meaning of the expression) than to get rid of nazis, as people don’t need datacenters to be nazis.
