You can easily ween yourself off nicotine by mixing your own vape juice. Make small batches, lowering the nicotine % by an imperceptible amount each batch until it’s effectively 0%. Then keep vaping 0% until the urge goes away. Do it over the course of a year, and you’ll never notice the drop. No willpower needed.
Rather than go cold turkey you can quit smoking by restricting the times that you can have a cigarette

The urge never went away for me, I vaped 0% for several years. It’s the habit that’s addictive for some people.

I vaped 0% for about a year, so I get it. I would probably still be doing it, but my mods eventually broke and I didn’t replace them. Without the physical addiction, I quickly got over it. The habit might be more addictive for some people though.

but lots of planning and organization needed

A little bit. I was already mixing my own juice, so I had the liquids, syringe, bottles, etc. At that point, it’s just a few minutes with a spreadsheet, and you’re good to go for the year.
It’s worth it if you really want to quit and are having trouble.

Dr: No really, you’re getting the lungs of the month award.
Me: got a lighter?

People focus entirely too much on method instead of motive. There’s lots of methods to quit that have worked for some and failed for legions more.

Yes! I have achieved not smoking for an other hour. Time for a celebratory pufferooni
