Let’s play games on Crunchyroll!
Hasn’t this been working out okay for Netflix? The intersection of people who watch stuff, and people who would like no-microtransaction games is decently sized.
I found Steam versions of several of the games in the list. Can’t say much for mobile ports, but all of them seem to have decent reviews.
five games … currently limited just to Android devices with iOS support on the way… Behind the Frame: The Finest Scenery, Captain Velvet Meteor: The Jump+ Dimensions, inbento, River City Girls, and Wolfstride … ad-free and contain no in-app purchases
Available for all the subscribers
Bet it plays like shite. Crunchyroll barely works.
Well hold your horses there for a second.
Crunchyroll worked very well in the XBMC addon, before they C&D’d it for no good reason.
But why? I doubt that many people will care for these games.
After their mishandling of Princess Connect, nobody should trust investing their time with gaming through Crunchyroll, EVER.
Don't forget about the censored translations.

Why does every platform try to be everything nowadays?

Because shareholders and valuations. If you don’t expand expand grow expand grow grow, people immediately see this as the company collapsing this very moment. It’s impossible to just “exist”. Be stable. Be reliable. Nope, massive growth every year no matter the cost or you’re obviously doomed.

Because too many online companies have their value predicated on continued growth and so once they saturate their niche they try to continue to grow and doom themselves in the process outside of a select few that had already become too big to fail.
