This is 100% the fault of vets and the manufacturers. They both push to give treatments every month, and it’s simply not needed. We have 4 cats which only get treated when one or more actually gets fleas. One treatment of all 4 is enough to get rid of all the fleas. So how often do any of the cats get fleas? None of them got fleas last year, and so far no fleas this year either. It’s ridiculous to say they need monthly treatments, and it is purely for profit,

I appreciate it’s for consideration and they’re asking for options and opinions (and agree that pesticides in water is not a good think) but putting the already expensive flea treatment behind a “vet paywall” is going to cause a lot of unnecessary suffering for animals.

Also, I can’t see how this would actually restrict any use, unless there’s people out there practically painting the stuff on their dogs every week, that need to be told to do it less often.

I’d have thought agricultural pollution from pesticides, etc. was more of an issue than pet flea treatments.

In my area leishmaniasis is endemic. There is no way I’m not going to use a collar or fur drops.

Leishmaniasis is a horrible disease for dogs.

A very good move to reduce pesticides but not sure it compares with wider pesticides use.
