Title
I haven’t, but for a long time I considered changing the last name to completely disconnect from my childhood family, who I took far to long to learn had me programmed and did not treat me, or really anyone, well. I’ve been no contact for a long time and it has helped. I no longer feel like who I am is wrong, nor do I pike on the regrets for trying.
I still occasionally think of changing the name.
Got myself a new gender
My mother-in-law’s parents really wanted a boy and they were going to call him Nicholas. When she was born her mother wouldn’t look at her and didn’t want to name her, so a nurse suggested Nicola as she’s a girl, and the mother just shrugged and said okay.
She uses her middle name as her first name now. She did actually make up with her mother while her mother was on her deathbed, it was all frantic and wills were rewritten and all sorts.
I’ll bite; changed my last name from Keanu (after Keanu Reeves) to my biological father’s last name in the fourth grade because I thought it sounded cooler, little did I know then just how cool Keanu would turn out to be and my father to not be. At least the last name itself is cool 😎
You don’t have to type the word “Title”; you can just leave it blank.
Anyway, I feel obliged to contribute: I haven’t changed my name, but if I did, I would change it to a name that I simply happen to like better and feel like I would be more empowered by. There’s nothing wrong with my current name though.
