Trams and credit cards
I swear the last time I was in Melbourne in 2019, the trams let me tap on and off with a credit card. But they don’t now in 2025. Am I imagining things, or did it go backwards?
I haven’t been to Melbourne since like 2011, so I’m just taking AllNewTypeFace at their word that you’re mistaken about 2019.
Is it possible you’re conflating it with Sydney, which has allowed paying with credit cards since 2017? Or maybe with Melbourne’s free tram?

You’re imagining things. All previous versions of the Myki system have been incompatible with payment cards. (The next one apparently will accept credit/debit card payments, though.)

Worth pointing out that they added the ability to pay a Myki fine on the spot from anywhere with a credit card over a decade ago. Priorities and all that.
