Thoughts and prayers to anyone doing time with family or in-laws this week
I moved from the US to Germany, where I met my husband. After we’d been married for a year, I brought him to the US to meet everyone in person.
He said it was like looking at me through fly eyes.
My wife didn’t completely believe how my family treated me growing up. She just couldn’t comprehend the level of assholeness.
So I took her to Christmas with my family once. That’s all it took. She quickly realized that I was barely mentioning some of the larger things they had done. I wasn’t even mentioning all the smaller things.

My sister verbally attacked my spouse out of nowhere. Later during our drive home she said, “I’m so sorry you had to grow up in that environment.” I nearly cried.
